You've done well to find someone who will let an American on their land with a gun, he obviously hasn't heard of your nations penchant for "friendly fire" Might still find your knife; believe it or not I once lost a single brass door key while out ferreting, the grass was quite long but I was keen to find the key as it was the only one I had to fit my back door. I went all the way back to the field from home and retraced my steps, looked around for about 2 minutes and hey presto, there it was !!! Needless to ay my next trip was down to the key cutters for a couple of spares. If taking bait I'd use carrots, Mr. Bunny can't resist them. Guest jonrms
ok ok.. sooo many questions.. lol 1) I live outside of hull. but the place i go shooting is near doncaster... so 40ish miles away... not bad really. 2) only allowed to shoot air rifles because they are trying to bread some interesting birds.. and they dont want them to get scared away.... not as if they will at 14 acres... 3) will get some pics up asap.. promise... I am hoping to find my knife... its not a big deal just cost alot... anyway will see what i can do. This forum has helped sooo much in trying to locate land... you all have given me alot of tips... well not me but others which i read.... and it helped a great deal.. including the permission forms. I have to say of all the web sites i belong to this really is the best and I havnt even posted a darn thing on the others to bragg.... just because i owe it to this web site and ALL the members on here....... I can tell you guys that this is a huge club of a type... no more clues apart from that it cost over 1000£ to be a member.......... yearly.... and well guess what.. we got a free membership for as long as we like. and lastly.... i am a nice american... one who hates bush... thinks america is full of itself.. largely because of the media... and has a totally differant outlook on life... I think that brittian thinks that america is worse than it is... america thinks its better than it is..... and to be honest... there are sooo many mis conceptions its not even worth writting about..... oh yeah.... pps in america fanny means your butt.... so any americans apart from me who reads this... be carefull when over here... and for the britts.... dont ask for 20 fags ... you will be shot in america...... lol! thank you all and pics to follow... ****. Axe
Well done Jon, its a good feeling to get land when at times it seems inpossible. As for tips, don't be tempted to frequent it too much or you might find the rabbits get extremely wise. If your going to lamp them, start out with plain light and only use the filter once they get use to it. Importantly, have a good look over the ground, whilst looking for Rabbit burrows, runs etc you also need to make sure you have safe back stops, so need to plan your sitting points. I'm sure most of this is common sense to you already, enjoy the shoot.
Browning
Jon, to add to Axes advice, I'd say keep the farmer/landowner informed of what you're doing. Don't take it for granted he knows you're doing a good job, tell him. Maybe offer him a couple of dressed rabbits and a bottle. Keep well in with him and he'll be more likely to put your name forward to other farmer/landowners.
