has anyone else had the gas piston spring break in their maxus.mine is only 12 months old and the sping snapped.still works ok but surely shouldnt snap after 12 months.i spoke to the people who sold me the gun and they asked me to post the piston on to them and they would pass it on to browning.he also said build up of carbon could cause the spring to weaken.not sure i believe that.i clean my gun regular but difficult to get at the spring in the piston.just wondering if this is a 1 off or common problem.apart from this a geat gun.

Nothing new my friend ..... Gemini 52 had the same problem, his piston spring damaged the action .....Browning replaced the gun.

I've heard of this happening with some (older ones I think). Your issue lies with browning, not the dealer. Go straight to source for a warranty claim to avoid the time delay through the dealer.

Best of luck :good:

I had a spring break rung browning, didnt want to speak to me all he kept on saying was go through your dealer

This has been a problem with these guns, google browning maxus problems,a lot of unhappy owners,

How likely is the spring to break? How many shells are we talking and is it blatantly obvious when it happens?

Cheers :good:

Mine broke after using a few 3.5'' fowling loads. The gun would then not cycle at all.

There is a place you can order an aftermarket (stronger/better quality) spring

Yes ,and every thing except the spring would have broken .

Harnser .

ABSOLUTE BULL*$£^% with regards to Hatsans Ive had mine since March 2009 no probs at all

If you go through all the makes they all have issues

I have Winchester SX3 which has had the same issues with the aforementioned spring before the Maxus was even available to the uk,

Try this link and buy a proper spring: http://gas-piston-springs.com/index.html

easy to fit obviously get it done under warranty but have one of these as a spare.

I had a word with Brownings at the Midland Fair regarding this problem chap there introduced me to their gunsmith who assured me that they now fit beefed up stainless steel springs ....New complete piston approx ...£80.

That could well be true. I swaped mine with another (brand new) maxus gas valve off the dealers shelf and never had a problem thereafter. :good:
