berties
I love the things but like cockles and winkles and such like save them for the seaside, saying that we used to get tubs of sherry and tomato cured herrings a few years ago they were not so acidic
ack-ack
I can take or leave roll mops. I love pickled eggs but more for the comedy effect about an hour after consumption. Very antisocial.

pg123
Not a big fish fan. Prawn cocktail starter or a battered cod with chips is about as far as I go. Mrs eats the things on a regular basis but not for me. Edited December 18, 2011 by pg123
Beardo
After reading this thread I popped into sainsburys as I hadn't had any for ages. Their rollmops are very sharp but their pickled herrings are lovely.

I ate the lot on the way home and then went out and stuck half a dozen London Pride on top of them. I wasn't at all well.

Fatcatsplat
One of the things i miss most about East London (cue misty eyed rose-tinted lenses!!) is Sunday afternoons with seafood on the bar - Cockles, whelks, prawns and roll mops with roast potatoes - Always good to nibble on before lunch. The roll mop onions were always the best as well, mopping them up in french bread with all the vinegar dripping down.

Thunderbird
A tramp is much like the curates egg.................. Punch re-ran a modern version of that for the bicentenary or something. The curate turns to the host and yells, "Oi, this ******* egg's rotten!"
