Actionpigeons
I was dropping on to the A50 earlier this week and noticed a good flock of Pigeons dropping on to some rape that I have permission to shoot over. I pulled over on the slip road and watched them for a while, phoning my mate at the same time to arrange for him to come over to have a go at them. We arranged to go Friday morning. Andy turned up on time, I had already loaded the 4x4 so off we went. We arrived at the field at about 9.00am. We set up with our backs to a hedge and the wind, there was a sitter tree just to our right. We put out about 15 shell decoys, a flapper with a dead bird on it and a pigeon magnet, also with dead birds on it. We could see pigeons dropping in just down the field from us so Andy let a shot off just to get them up. It worked, a few birds flew over us and Andy dropped one of them, my shot next. After a while we had a few more come over, a bit higher this time, I had a cpl of shots but missed. The morning went on like this a few birds every now and then. We had plenty of shooting, Andy having a better day than me. After about two and a half hrs we had about a dozen or so birds Andy accounting for most of them. It can only get better now if the snow comes! Edited December 16, 2011 by Actionpigeons

Haytime
The rape on a few fields I shoot over is only just showing through, and I mean just. Nothing feeding on them at the moment, was out saturday and today, nothing at all flying around other than seagulls No pigeons, no crows and no more room in the freezer for rabbits. ....I shall not give up hope
