Simon123
Depends on what your gun's chamber length's are. If 2 3/4", i'd recommend some RC 40's in BB or No.2, or Express Super Game 42g No.1 If 3", i'd recommend either the RC 50's in BB or No.2 or Gamebore Mammouth Magnum 50g BB, or Fiocchi Magnum 52g BB. hi all a shot a fox today with my shottie with 28 grams no5 fibre, wots carts can a use in my over & under as its only half n full choke to shoot foxes its 12 gauge a no many will say dont use a shotgun but this was at about 20 yards it tumbled on the floor when a shot it n got up and started running then a shoot it again then me stepdad shot it as well n it still ran away think it had a bullet proff jacket on a was stud shocked No wonder if you only had some 28g cart's in No.5 shot and TBH you shouldn't have bothered to try and shoot it. :/ I had a fox today and it took me 5 shot's to drop it dead. All of the cartridges were 42g+ with the smallest shot being No.2. The fox was hit with every shot (as he kept on getting twisted by every shot) but kept going eventhough i thought it was amazing that he could keep on going. The fox was about 40-45 yards when the first shot was taken and kept on running towards me, and finally dropped at about 15 yards away from me

mpk
Yeah number 5's are way to small. Go for some bb's. That's why it got up. You are shooting foxes with a light pigeon load really. I tend to not shoot pigeons with less than 30 grams of no 6's. So the load your using is inadequate. You have just wounded it with those carts. Did you manage to kill it ? Or did it get away Edited December 24, 2011 by mpk

Luckyshot
To be honest at 20 yards shot 3 times with any cartridge the fox would have dropped if shot any where in the front end. So either it was alot further away or you were shooting it up the ****.

Luckyshot
100% in face n chest n side Sorry but if the shots landed where you say they did at 20 yards that fox would be going nowhere.
EdSolomons
The head end is the other end to the tail, I think you might have got confused old bean! 1 barrel in the head/chest at 20 yards would send him down like a sack of spuds. bicykillgaz
i've dropped fox's with 32g no5's between 20-30yrds with my old baikal that was choked 1/2-3/4 and only gave it a second one for good measure, are you sure you was hitting it? i only used them as they was what was in at the time but they did the job well. i prefere no3's as they pattern really well, i tend not to push it out past 30-35yrds so they are more than adequate. EdSolomons
At 20 yards you'd kill it with a catapult if you hit the head!

Beretta28g
I must say for snared foxes i use 9 shot from about 5 yards. It has a really dense pattern and the end result isn't pretty to look at. 5's will kill foxes at sensible ranges, but if youre having that much trouble change carts. I have found eley Hi Flyer to be a very good round.
poontang
not with these rubbish carts I don't think you can blame the cartridges. Everyone knows if you point the barrels in the right place you'll kill it. Are you sure your gun fits properly? A good coach will help you with that. Get yourself some snap caps and practice your mount is the best advice I can give.

twitchynik
He can't even shoot one at 20 yards so I doubt he's ever eaten one.
