Dekers
I'm mulling over some options, what would be your opinion/view on a red dot sitting on top of a .22 Semi. I was thinking of using the open sights supplied for quick and easy quarry acquisition, but I have issues with the sights and quarry and my eyes! I have spare scopes and mounts but a couple of people have suggested red dot. Seen a few over the years but never owned any. So, worth considering or not, and if you rate the idea, then suggestions as to which type of Red Dot would be appreciated. Next part of the question is....lamping, I use a scope mounted lamp at the moment, is that going to be a problem, I guess it may be with red dot, again, advice if you can please. Usual quarry of generally bunnies, out to 50-60yards, day and night! This is NOT a target rifle! Cheers
Rushjob
I used the Eotech on my day job carbine. VERY quick target acquisition and gave you very good situational awareness whilst holding point of aim. I used to think we were cheating having them, it made shooting rather easy! Only possible negative thing I can think of is with bunnies, how big the dot may appear to be on them at 60 yards - could be interesting for head shots?? Other than that, the Eotech is parralax free so if the dot is on the target, that's where the bullet lands irrespective of how your eye is lined up on the scope. I like them! CZ550Kevlar
you can get 2 times mag reflex sights, that could give you a better option?
Catweazle
Eotech and other parallax-free holographic sights are expensive, cheap models have so much parallax error as to be useless on a rifle. I need at least 4x mag to be able to headshoot a rabbit at 60yds, I couldn't do it with 1x .
Beretta28g
What i would consider is mounting a laser on it, very fast target aquisition. This could be coupled with either a red dot or open sightes.
SilentKill
mmmmm don't think you can get them over here but the Eotech MPIII are awesome!
Cannon
A real Eotech with a flip to side 4x magnifier would be a fantastic set up, but would cost roughly £400. Easily be able to headshot rabbits at 60 yards with the magnifier in use, and use the Eotech on it's own for closer shots without having to worry about the dot obscuring the targets. On the other hand, if you can find a second hand genuine 4x ACOG with the holographic reticle, this would suit as well.

A new Eotech alone will set you back £400 minimum and the magnifier the same again! You might get a refurbed ACOG for £400 but they're like rocking horse do-do over here and you can't legally import them as an individual Edited December 30, 2011 by Breastman
kent
I seriously doubt you will get faster target aquission on the lamp, the best thing for that would be a low mag scope IMO. Adding a lazer to a scope wont help that either, i used one for quite a few years it helped with range judging and was usefull if set at a 2nd realy short zero range for feral clearance. The whole idea of red dots is for those who cant keep both eyes open for point and shoot hunting with a small low mag scope during the day and running shots. Might be very usefull during the day in woodland and around cover shooting at short opertunity and running shots but a WFT at night on the lamp to my mind.
