if it had a barrel of at least 24inches and under 2" bore it could be held under a SGC .

my first thought was that it could be a banned weapon but its posible you could get it on a fac as a muzzleloader pistol? have fun with convincing your fLO of a reason why you need one though !

shame though it looks fun!

A guy at a club I use uses a M/L cannon for "target shooting" (a good shot is one which hits the butts at 100m), see pics below. He's quite happy to let club members have a go and I've had a rattle myself. Good fun once or twice for novelty value, but you'd soon get bored with it. I believe he has it on an FAC, even though it's smooth bore and the calibre is less than 2 inches. As per the above post it's effectively treated as a section one muzzle loading pistol for licensing purposes.

In the HO guidelines the SGC below 2 inch calibre and FAC above, only applies for blank charges used for reenactment and yacht race cannons etc. Once you start stuffing a projectile as well as powder into the front end, you're squarely in section one/FAC territory, however small the calibre.

For a genuine antique cannon, obviously no licence at at all is requried if you never intend to fire it. I would suggest that the mini cannon would be treated as a section one firearm and you could get into a world of poo if you made one an got caught. Ridiculous I know, but that's our wonderful gun laws for you :/
