chrispti
so I would ask what exactly was the point of the video? I think they were trying to discourage the feeding of foxes, as doing so COULD result in your baby pork scratching getting nibbled on by Basil
Frenchieboy
In reply to Poontang's question - what exactly is the point of the video, I would suspect that it is to show the POTENTIAL dangers of feeding foxes in urban areas where they are already loosing most of their natural fear of humans. Maybe the way that the domonstration was carried out (using a piglet to represent a human baby) was not the best way to do this but people really do need to realise that foxes are cunning and inteligent oportunist PREDATORS and when their natural fear of humans is removed then the human (In particular a young unatended baby - Either indoors or outdoors) "could" become a part of the foxes prey. Some of these "Furry Friend Huggers" may believe that they can "tame" a fox but I somehow doubt that they will ever be able to remove the foxes predatory instincts! kdubya
ummm. how is it a crock? tell me what you think would happen if a child was left in a garden like that? would the fox read a real baby a bedtime story? it's a crock because a dead pig smells er like a dead pig not a live kiddie in a push chair, Charlie is attracted to dead things that's why we bait them with er dead things and pieces of er dead meat thought you being clever and all that ( saw the other thread) would have figured that one out. Fisherman Mike
Just illustrates how clever Urban foxes have become...so clever in fact they can distinguish between a dead piglet and a human baby....the fox even removed its swaddling just to confirm the identification....and it wasnt confused by the recorded voice over. Not stupid these foxes you know. Now if a farmer had wrapped a dead human baby in swaddling, placed it outside a piggery and played recordings of a piggy squeel the result would no doubt have been the same.. As far as the fox is concerned...a free meal, freshly dead meat... The clip proves nothing..... Could just as easily have been taken by a Dog or a Feral Cat... And yet we are happy to leave our kids alone with both. Edited January 30, 2012 by Fisherman Mike

bruno22rf
With 12 foxes visiting his garden in one night-is "Dave" a pest controller that you would recommend?
Blunderbust
yet again another thread being ripped apart!!! The humble fox is a wild animal that lives generally in open spaces, it is us as humans that have encouraged these creatures into the towns, villages and cities. We build house after house on green land (fox territory) then we leave 3 coarse meals in black bags outside for cats, dogs, and foxes to help themselves. its a free restaurant for these creatures and plenty of places to hide and sleep it off. Unfortunatley your right these creatures do need to be controlled but what I think is that we give them the easy opportunity then moan when they take it. putting 5000 pheasants in a field/woodland then holding them is just asking for trouble. I have shot foxes in the past and have seen first hand the damage these creatures can do but we as humans must take responsibility for our greed. Anyway as for stealing piglets dressed as babies I'm sorry but any responsible adult who leaves a crying baby unattended smelling of bacon is a fool. I do remember the kids who were mauled by a rogue fox and feel for them and their parents I also remember the press band wagon that people jumped on but how many more have you hear'd of since??? yet again another thread being ripped apart!!! mudpatten
To me this represents a credible attempt by field sportsmen at redressing the imbalance in the urbanites view of the fox as a cuddly, fluffy tofu eating pet animal which is wrongly hunted or otherwise killed by those nasty hunters whom eveyrbody wants to stop. It`s useful propaganda in the war for hearts and minds and I`m shocked that so many on this forum have missed the point of it. I think it`s great.
