pin
24p seems about the norm in and around the London area for comparable targets and facilities. There was a comment that the quailty / facilities tails off the further north you go but I would say thats not at all true really. Lord Geordie will probably comment here too but Steve Smith's in Dinnington (just outside Newcastle) has the latest kit (automatics / angles with counters) a gunshop on site and great layouts etc and thats a damn load cheaper than I pay down here Broomhills is 24p/clay non members Ractory Farm clayshoot is the same (£12/50) A1 shooting grounds the same again At my club though we charge £10 for 100 bird sporting (£15 guests) and we have a good range of targets, bowmans automatics, rabbits and a tower etc. By far the best shooting I can find anywhere round here though oddly we struggle for numbers and only shoot bi-weekly at the moment

Catamong
Cat How much was it to shoot the glass balls filled with feathers in the early days of your shooting career? tosspot, I can't remember - it was too long ago, I think it was 1 farthing per bird, and I was still shooting a state of the art muzzle loader then..!! See you at Southdown on Sunday for the South East Regional Champs..?? - I'm out to give the big fella a run for his money this year..!! Cat. Simon Roberts
I agree that it seems to get cheaper the further North you go, but it has to be said that the quality of the targets, scoring and general organisation tends to go downhill the further North you go, so I suppose you get what you pay for..?? Cat Sorry mate but thats a load of ****! Kelbrook is one of the best claygrounds in the country. Rishton is a fantastic set up too! If you was joking then thats ok
SPARKIE
I make the Sawley costs 18p a bird for skeet and 13.75p for Sporting. How come, I thought the clays were the same with the odd exception? think its cause the skeet they take a group on at a time and they have a young lap pressing the remotes and scoreing everyone so that could be the reason suppose. If you was joking then thats ok No Simon, I wasn't joking, that's an opinion I've formed from shooting at grounds all over the UK for at least the last 20 years, as a AAA class shot and a member of the England Shooting team. Don't misunderstand my point, I'm not saying that all shoots up North are no good, but I've found that they tend to be cheaper to enter, but frequently the organisation and target quality is not as good as many grounds down South. How many grounds have you shot in the South..?? Cat
P03
I've shot high lodge before and it is a top ground... did you shoot the high tower at all, some nice testing birds from top of there, especially the driven birds off of it in the woods. £5 for a round of 25 at my local. Gibby Gibby, Where do you shoot? I've been told Mill Farm and Tog Hill(??) are quite good. I normally just go to Cheddar or Mendip but I'd like to find somewhere closer to Bristol. Cheers P03
