Autos have been band.....

I wounder how many places have band them. Or are planning on baning them.

I have all ways thought they have been frowned on. That's what's puting me of.

Why are auto frowned on. What's do people not like about them.

Auto's haven't been banned and if a club exists that wont let you use one you have to wonder if that club is worth frequenting in the first place.

The reality is that no-one gives autos a second glance at any clay club worth bothering with so don't worry yourself about it.

Sorry i disagree with you , they have been banned from two very good clubs within a 20 mile radius of me

I shoot clays only and only use a semi auto.

Had an O/U, but think I actually prefer the semi to it.

And as above, I'd find it very hard to believe a club these days would ban anyone for using a Semi unless they werent making an effort to be safety concious ... Ie flag in the chamber etc.... And if they were banned, I wouldnt want to go there anyway for being stuck up nancy boys :P

Ive had no problems so far anywhere.

Out of curiosity whats there names ... and do they advertise semi's are banned?

They have signs up saying NO SEMI AUTOS TO BE USED , im not naming my local clubs on a open forum who wont let you use them , but thers a few on here who i know and shoot with who also know what grounds im talking about , so all im saying if you buy a semi auto not ALL grounds let you shoot with them

The only thing I can think of is the extra shot.

I can understand the sport is set around two shots. Then some one brings out a gun with 3 shots I can see that a bit unfair but I would only use two if I got one.

Is that what other people do or do they use the 3rd shot as well?

I'd be pretty annoyed if I rolled up to a club and was told I can't shoot just because of my choice of gun.

I do happen to use an OU on the clays but I've just ordered a semi auto for out in the field. :shoot:

Buy what you like pal and if a club says you're not welcome, if you choose a semi, tell em to stick it and find a decent club. :D

They was banned after an incident

So if they have an incident with an O/U too are they just going to throw the shot at the claybirds :hmm::lol:

I would certainly be glad to go elsewhere

You only put two in the gun, it'll still work you know :lol:

Thats your choice to go elsewhere , the club is well run , friendly with a very good membership and challenging targets hence why some semi auto users have accepted it and still shoot there , some did not like it and dont shoot ther anymore . The incident could not ever have happened with an o/u , so the time hasent come yet to be throwing shot at targets :good:

You solely state clays, therefore I would state a semi for me. Used safely, with a breach flag if required, they are as safe as any gun. My semi fits better and recoils less hence my "kill" ratio is much much higher than with an o/u. Personal preference really though. Try both.

I wish I never brought the Hatsan. I never use it. Did once, brought it back, and cleaned it made it spotless and it's been sitting there locked up in the cabinet for the past 2 months and only comes out to be oiled...

Defiantly the O/U for everything, I'm just far more use to them and prefer the way they handle... In fact, I think I will put the Hatsan S/A up for sale on the trading forum when I get the chance!
