Spaniel
I had a go at fly fishing last year, from a boat on the Chew down here at Bristol. Got to say that I have always enjoyed my coarse fishing but never even thought about giving fly fishing ago. But really enjoyed it and thought that this year i would try to do some more. This week i have joined a local fly fishing club in Bristol which provides me with the opportunity to fish some lakes and rivers local to me. Popped down to veals today and got some really great advise from dave down in the shop and I am all set to get out some time next weekend and give it ago. Not sure what to expect but getting out is the main thing and catching a trout will be a bonus Just in case anyone local to bristol just to let you know Veals have a sale on this weekend Hopefully I will start posting updates on my new adventures shortly

39TDS
I really enjoy fly fishing. Can't say I am a master at it or anything but I do OK. Find it quite relaxing on the right day.
-Mongrel-
Yep, a winter fly fisher I am too. Find it very enjoyable with the bonus of catching a meal, or tow, or three... ...anyway, it's too chuffing cold to be sat stationary on the bankside at this time of year, you need to be active o keep warm, and with the fly cast you are always keeping warm! Good shot?
Its a great sport, virtually all year especially on the big waters and don,t neglect the bank fishing as most of my bigger fish have come from the first 10 yards of water on a 350 acre fishery. Enjoy
hedd-wyn
Stuck a deal with my brother in law late last year. if he starts shooting with me, I would start fly fishing with him. I must admit I was absolutely **** to begin with, but slowly getting the hang of it. I Love sea fishing, but fly fishing has a more 'civilised edge' to it. Will defiantly keep it up, any excuse to get out of the house for the day.
ack-ack
Its a great sport. Theres only really reservoirs and muddy ponds down my way but I always enjoy Bewl, especially in the spring when all the bluebells are out.

You have plenty of that down there. I have deliberately caught herring on the fly.

Gillaroo
Those BRFFA boys are more interested in drinking large amounts of Thatchers than fly fishing. Dangerous lot to be mixing with!
