Well wot a day we had today.

Met up with LB this morning , nice & early(ish).

LB had stopped off for a bit of brekkie and some goon tried to rip him off for his change. ( I told him if some cockney came in he was a rich bitch and he could try a "Sting" ; but it didn't work.

Anyway , he came across the field with his gear just as i was finishing setting up the hide & decoys.

2 x sets of decoys. Crows to the left of us and pigeons and magnet in front.

We started hitting the birds straight away - bar the first one of LB.s which waved goodbye to him.

And during the morning we had steady traffic to both sets and we shot some cracking birds.

Lefts, rights, high birds and even a couple of "double-deckers" apiece.

The 'mickey-taking' & banter was non-stop all morning as were the birds even to the extent that he was 2 hours late leaving for his appointment.

What a pity you had to go LB. As the birds were banging in all day..

We had shot 76 birds when he left , and went on to shoot 426 birds and ran out of shells and had to pack up.351 pigeons and 75 blackies

Cracker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Hope you had a TOP day LB, with the Topgunners and we look forward to your visit in October with NTTF.

Well done boys. Wonder what the total would have been had you not ran out of shells!

We would have done the 500 easy as the pigeons were still dropping in as we packed up.

 :D

Never mind. we certainly all enjoyed it.

What were you shooting over? The only birds I've seen in those sort of numbers recently have been on laid barley, and I dont like shooting them as I think you do as much damage to the crops picking them up as the birds themselves do.

The ' crop 'was stubble that had just been combined the day before for silage. About 50 acre field with a QUARRY over the road (which is where the crows kept coming from.)
