BRAD1927
Well after a small fortune spent on stamps I finally got a phone call this evening from a friendly farmer asking me to eradicate his rabbit problem. even better news is he has offered me as much pigeon shooting as i want once they are knocked back. Gee.
Well done fella, feels good dont it. Remember, be respectful of their property and dont do anything that makes you look like a **** ;-) I got myself another permission today too on a large farm a few miles from my house. Took me all of 10mins to secure and even got a cuppa and a biscuit off the farmer, he has given me permission to come and go as I please at any time of the day/night so im happy. He is even going to speak to the adjoining farmers for me. Got to go and see him when I get chance to get boundary's and slips/liability disclaimer signed. May even put in for a 22lr now ;-) Happy hunting mate.

BRAD1927
Just been for a look araound the farm some good land for both shotgun and air rifle about 7 major warrens spread over 5 fields. one downside is that one field is wedged between the farmhouse and a pub and the warren is on the pub side so will need the little devils to come out and play in the open. One field is just ploughed and waiting to be seeded next month for beans. I will post some pics as soon as I get them.
gazzthompson
Whats the common way of respectfully and appropriately approaching farmers? just knock on doors explaining who I am, That i have a SGC and im looking for land to shoot on ? BRAD1927
There's no real way as such. Me personally I have knocked on doors - dressed reasonably smart no suits or hunting rig or I have written letters explaining who I am what I was after and what I could offer. Aslong as your polite and nobody is already shooting the land you should get some luck but don't be put off by the knock backs. I have sent in excess of 50 lettersout now and knocked on 25/30 doors and only got the one permission. Good luck
ajm1979
Well done it pays to keep plugging away, I mail shot around 300 farms every couple of months normally only get one phone all out of it if I'm lucky
BRAD1927
So finally managed to get a proper look around tonight so I could get a better feel managed to find several suitable ambush sites for thumper and his pals. Whilst leaving one of the fields I noticed a neighbour in his drive so I approached him and introduced myself. Low and behold without even being asked he gave me another 25 acres then told me to go and see the chap over the road so I did and got given another 15 acres!!!! As you can imagine I could not believe my luck, even managed to bag 3 rabbits and 2 pigeons for my troubles. not bad for 2hrs wandering. :D :D
Harnser
Well done that man. Give this farmer a good service and you will be surprised at how quickly other shooting will come your way by his recommendation . Harnser .
Mangled99
Whilst leaving one of the fields I noticed a neighbour in his drive so I approached him and introduced myself. Low and behold without even being asked he gave me another 25 acres then told me to go and see the chap over the road so I did and got given another 15 acres!!!! That's how it often works. Farmers talk to other farmers if your doing a good job, visit regularly (a text when you are going to go works well just so that he knows your putting in the effort)and you will keep on getting offered more land. I also let them know if I spot anything unusual like broken fences or fly tipping as you will tend to be out at times when nobody else is. Only on Saturday I had a phone call from one of the farmers I do pest control for who offered me another 4 farms that he has as the people that shoot it only go once a month. Told him I would do my best as it is a lot of land to cover especially as I am trying to get on top of a new piece of land I picked up a few week's back as I don't like to let anyone down. I also like to keep the farmer sweet by taking a bottle round at Christmas and I drop a bunch of flowers off to his wife on her birthday.
