Thinking of having the chop

I have a 23inch barrel .22lr and thinking of taking this down to about 16 inches (maybe 14").

Has any one else done this noticed any change in noise level?

I do use a SAK moderator and love how quiet this gun is. Will it get louder and if so how much?

Any experience welcome.....

Cheers

Chopped my CZ down to 16",fell in love with it all over again!I can't see a reason why it would increase the noise, but neither my mates nor me have noticed any change.

Go for it,you wont regret it;mine cost £35.I didn't bother having it re-proofed.

I chopped a few inches off my Vostok CM2 and threaded it. it's now useful tool and I haven't noticed and change in the noise level with subs.

I have just taken my ruger 10/22 into have the barrel chopped down to 13 inches from 18, they did say it might need a weaker spring as the reduced back pressure but i dont no if this is true or not

Yes it could very well be true. I once bought (very cheaply) a 22 semi/auto pistol with a 7" barrel that had been left to go rusty inside the muzzle. The only solution was to cut off the end 2” taking it down to a 5” barrel. I had to remove a couple of turns on the recoil spring in order to get it to function due to the loss of velocity/recoil.

Whether this will affect a barrel of 13” is debatable, but it could be true.
