henry d
Picked up a header on MSN about offal, regional foods and game that are, supposedly, going out of fashion. Jugged hare and squirrel casserole are two that are named and are mentioned on here quite regular, but what about "Bath chaps","Sussex pond pudding" does anyone still eat these with any regularity? The link http://lifestyle.uk.msn.com/foodanddrink/a...cumentid=697167 Also what is a local speciality in your area that isn`t found elsewhere ?? pin
Recent episode of "the f word" featured fricassee of rabbit on a bed of taglietti with finished with a pepercorn mustard cream sauce with pan fried liver and kidney. Not bang on topic, but I think that program probably did a great deal to promote rabbit as the delicious food we all know it is, but joe public won't eat.. pin
Indeed. No matter how much of a delicacy some animals pods might be I aint eating that ****. Having eaten McDonalds, Burger King and other fast food for years I suppose makes the above line null and void

pin
If I was hungry as in starving I would take the McPony, if not i'd rather eat the hoppy ballacks!
Cranfield
I think it must be all the mad cow they put in McD's offerings. One of our local specialities is a lamb and apricot pie, it probably has a few other ingredients, but they are the main ones, its delicious. There are also a wide variety of sausages. Pigs cheek muscles in breaded covering, very ham like. Sussex pond pudding is a suet pudding made with a lemon covered in treackle or brown sugar in the middle. The acid lemon juice and the sweet treackle make a very nice gooey pudding when its well cooked. I make these about once a year. They stick to the waisteband a bit though. Just don't fall off a peat hag while youre full of one though. If you get stuck on your back, you might not get up again

mel b3
i'm quite fond of fried chicken livers , one or two of the local dishes are pigs trotters and grey peas and bacon . a very true story. several years ago a mate sent his wife to the local butchers to get him a pound of ducks lips , unfortunately the butchers had just that minute run out of them but they kindly sent her to the next nearest butchers shop assuring her that they would have them , after visiting several butchers and finally the poultry slaughterhouse she returned home and left a scar under his right eye that he carries to this day
Axe
Went to a BBQ last month and my very good friend had a container of curry. It smelt great but had these grey mauve lumps of meat sitting on the top. Anyway, he explained it was chicken hearts and offered me a sample. I downed a few extra cans to pluck up the courage then returned to pop a chicken heart and down it went, delicious!!!! I was really quite surprised, all be it cold. Looking forward to sampling some more.
