ME
Following on from Timp's BMX thread, I was thinking about my childhood bikes. I had one of these - I also had one of these - But I always wanted one of these (so I bought one two years ago ) -

hendersons
I had one of the second ones down. I ended up getting a bmx from gt that was just chrome. It had really thin wheels which was apparently better for racing (speaking of which did anybody partake?). It has been all through the family and now belongs to my cousins son. I loved that bike and if I ever have a son he shall have to have it whether he likes it or not.
ack-ack
I had a Raleigh Lion Tricycle when I was four. I never wanted it but was bought it anyway and even though I didn't at the time know what a bell end was I felt like one every time I rode it. Needless to say after much **** taking from the local kids I rarely aired the behemoth. I eventually got a raleigh super burner and had to keep this until way after BMX had gone out of vogue. Eventually I bought my first Marin at 16 with the proceeds from various enterprises. I had arrived!! I love this bike and still get the same buzz when I ride it now as I did when I was 16. I must say for some inexplicable reason it was never the fanny magnet that I anticipated it would be

Vipa
My first proper bike was a Raleigh Jeep OMG how lame it looks now.. It ended up with Cowhorns! B) I always lusted after a Black Raleigh Record with gold hardware! The bike shop In Chorley had one in the window and I used to stop and drool over it on the way to my mates house!! still looks gorgeous even now! Although... I'm confused by the date in the pic... I was 18 in '84 and my lusts had moved from bikes to women & cars! I seem to remember being about 14 when I saw it in the bike shop! Had a Chipper before that... My mum wouldn't let me have a Chopper... My Dad then discovered Tensor Cycles (cheap as chips mail order) so my dreams of a Record went out the window! Bionic Man
I had a Raleigh 'Chipper' like a Chopper, but smaller in a vivid orange with chrome wheels. Little brother had a 'Tomahawk'....how I wet myself laughing when he vaulted over the handlebars when he ran into a housebrick.

timps
My dad bought me a Raleigh Tomahawk, I remember being a bit disappointed because it did not have the gear change on the frame like the chopper. Also the challenge of the white warning band on the back of the seat, 2 sat on the seat and me stood up peddling down the road to the shop proved them wrong. He then bought me one of these when I was 7 so this is my favourite ride of all time.........
Thunderbird
Then I had one of these, changed the front sprocket to get more acceleration and burn my mates off in their GP100s and DT125s.
