Thought id change style this time as there getting very wary now to any thing that go s bang or spins or flaps :oops: So thought id take the big owl with us and only a few decoys.

This time humped all gear 1/2 a mile to other side of carrot field to try and get more under flight line but my master plan did not work they start of well mobbing the owl but then the action dried up about dinner time.

The afternoon was very slow haveing to take 50-60 yard shots with high pheasant number 5s they don't like them 1 bit shot 30 today just got packed up before rain came in

So my total for week is just over 110 off a field they should not Evan be on but farmers happy so thats all what matters :yes:

Top shooting! Your hide really looks the part too Swiss, how many camo nets do you use? Have you layered a couple?

that's 4 cammo nets mate and a 60 inch fishing brolly 2 of nets are ghost nets 1 real tree and massive army tank net so they carnt see though the hide and the brolly gives you a roof/dry so they carnt sneak over top

when it comes to crows its pays to build a good hide better results they have wicked eye sight

Great work Swiss,

I went out with a mate on Monday and ended up on a ploughed field deoying corvids.

We learnt a few lessons;

1. Decoy early - after lunch not much happened (same as you)

2. Build a decent hide - we didn't have a roof on ours and higher rooks/crows just saw us way too early. Loved your hide, it looks great.

3. Get some smaller shot sizes - I was using 32g 6.5's which were fine at 30 yards but wasn't going for much outside of that. Like the idea of using some 5's for longer shots.

4. Try an owl decoy - never thought of that - my mate said that in the `old days` they'd tie out a ferret and use that as a decoy.

If we shoot better next time I'll give you credit for an assist. :rolleyes:

I've never had much joy using an Owl decoy but the little black ******* used to go mad to try to mob my Harris Hark whenever I took her out for exercising! (I do miss that bird)

You seem to be making a fair old dent in the blackie population around your way mate, well done! I tend to look on Steve B as the "crow king" on here but I can see you giving him a fair run for his money and pinching his "title" pretty soon if you keep this up! :lol::lol::lol:

That's a pretty impressive hide you have built Tony! :good:
