farmerguy.22
Hi, I am going to be applying for a variation for a pure foxing calibre on me FAC very soon but am on a budget. I have a 22lr at the moment but have alot of foxs on our farm that keep getting in our chickens and are a general nuisance. As i have said i am on a budget and my local dealer has a s/h .222 BRNO FOX for sale around £200 mark. Im not wanting this to turn into another "which is the best calibre for foxin" thread but would apreciate a little advice on this gun and poeples experiences with it. any advice would be great! farmerguy.22
nope item description is: "basic bolt action rifle. Walnut stock, bedded to action and barrels fully floated. Complete with Hilver 'scope rings. Very good condition" fg.
henry d
I would think the reason for such a nice price is the .222 is at the moment just a fox calibre for you guys(I bought mine down there brand spanking new and £150 cheaper than here) There is a big BUT ............ it is hoped that in the future it will become a deer calibre for England and Wales. Dead-Eyed Duck
The Brno fox is an excellent weapon. I have used a similar gun in 0.22 Hornet calibre, and it was good. The only reservation that I would have is as when buying any 2nd hand gun - will it shoot straight? Will your dealer be willing to give an accuracy demonstration on the basis that you will buy any ammo for said demmo? I personally would not have any idea what to look for when examining the crown, throat and rifling (apart from any obvious glaring faults), and so this is why I would ask if a demmo could be given, If he will, then I would suggest that you cannot lose. Frank
Likewise, i would ask for a demo, or better still, shoot it myself. Good choice of make. Frank.

farmerguy.22
That is one question i dnt know the answer to. I will ask him when i go along on friday evening as i cant get in contact with him any other time due to my work. I emailed him last night asking for prices of his new cz american 22-250 and 223. these came back as £525 and £499. so am thinking it might be in my interest to just save up and buy a new one straight from the off. One other question i have is when i send my variation of with my current FAC, does this mean i cant go lamping whilst without the certificate? If this is the case i will have to wait a while as am lamping quite often at the moment. many thanx to everyone who has posted so far. Frank
Over here, if we dont have our certs on us, we get our rifle/ shotgun taken off us, untill we can show it at the cop shop. Frank.
mry716
If you decide on the 222 and want a few cases to start reloading I have 60 FOC +P&P and will have more as soon as i shoot more bunnies.
Browning
Same goes here if you go for the .22-250, I have approx 150 once or twice fired cases you can have FOC + P&P.

Guest jonrms
I would reccomend you photo copy your FAC and keep it... this way your not going to run into too much problems..... it just helps.... the only realy problem with sending your FAC off is that you cant as you know buy any more ammo... thats the only problem.. well good luck... Bazooka Joe
Over here, if we dont have our certs on us, we get our rifle/ shotgun taken off us, untill we can show it at the cop shop. Frank. The coppers here in the UK can do excatly the same, carry it with you, in there eyes they don't know if the firearms are legal or not!!!!! Save yourself a trip to the local cop shop, to get your guns back. BJ.

Rubbish! Most forces have a firearms data base thorough the control room ,cert nos and serial numbers can be checked instantly. If you phone before you go shooting and get a control room message number you won't get bothered anyway. In contradiction to all that, I have to admit I always carry my ticket. Any thing made by BRNO or cz is good. I have a cz .223 which is a new aquisition and a 18 year old BRNO 12g excellent quality.
