Ant8681
I went out and bought myself a new knife yesterday and like the big kid I am i couldn't wait to use it so out I went this morning and shot myself a squizzer. As I now have someone that wants to but them I started to skin it, well I cut off its tale then sliced into my finger nice and deep! I thought " Oh dear I do wish I had brought my first aid kit with me!" or something to that effect. Thing is I bought a first aid kit for shooting, looked at it and left it behind, silly thing to! I know next time it will be coming with me then I wont have to cut a hunting trip short!

Zapp
Opinel knives are like razors and are very easy to keep that way. I love them.

Ant8681
I'm well chuffed today as I went and told my dad the story of my new knife, we used to shoot and fish alot until he lost his sight from being diabetic, I remember his opinel from then. We finished our coffee and he went out to his room and came back with the knife in a nice leather case and presented it to me! I hope I dont loose it and can pass it on to my boy as it has bought back alot of happy memories! :good:
Frenchieboy
I have an Opinel Number 7 and very rarely go shooting without which I carry it in a leather pouch on my belt! I bought the knife some 3 years ago with the main thought in mind that they are cheap so if I were to loose it there would not be any years shed. I occasionally touch the blade up with a Fallkniven D4 (Daimond) sharpener and it is still just as sharp today as the day it was bought! (I could literally shave with it if i wanted to) If Opinel were to do fixed blade knives for skinning and gralloching etc; using the same high quality steel and offer the same great value for money that they do with their locking knives I am sure that they would corner a fairly large portion of the market for "Hunting knives"! In my opinion every hunter or "country man" should have an Opinel Knife in their pocket every time they go out into the field!

luckytrigger
Ive been using my late fathers old opinel no9 for over ten years and its still going strong. It makes me chuckle to see people paying £50+ just for a knife to gut rabbits
rallyrus
I picked up this whilst in France a couple of weeks ago, it's a no8 and has a attractive scene carved in the wood, my other node is a no9
