30-6
I'll be up for a .22lr soon (had it on my cert for a year now) 'cause I've been using the FAC air-rifle, but only have ever had wooden stocks on my guns. So, what is the pros and cons of both types of stocks? Will probably have a CZ 452, so this will determine the model for me perhaps.
flash
personally i would go for a lovely walnut stocked rifle. i know synthetics are good if they get scratched etc, but i would personally gor for a wood stock. cheers flash
Lord Geordie
I guess it depends on the usage and if you intend to sell on to upgrade at a later date? If you use it while trudging through bracken - bushes and brambles over fences etc and thrown in the back of your ride whilst going over the fields without a cover then DEF go for synthetic as the resale value will be little affected. If your gonna mollycoddle it and have it in it's slip and keep out of thick undergrowth etc then wood. Would YOU buy a gun with a wooden stock that looks like it was used to club an animal to death? As a matter of principal (personally) i prefer synthetic it's harder wearing and easier for maintenance also LG
Axe
I like both but for practicality synthetic is better for field work. Best thing to do though is go and try them out at the gunshop.
sussex lad
Synthetic every time from now on for me
Dunkield
and above If you are getting a 452, I would go for the 'style' or the 'silhouette' so sythetic stock and either nickel or black barrel, and probably the 16" one. There is a bit more about them here: http://www.edgar-brothers.co.uk/ORIGINAL_SITE/
AndyCM
I bought the CZ452 .22lr Style - practical synthetic stock when I bought the CZ452 in .17hmr I didn't get the choice of synthetic I prefer the .17hmr calibre, but the synthetic stock on my .22lr - unfortunately, I can't swap them ! - my vote is synthetic all the way

lurcherboy
My Nova and RWS are both synthetic. Good job too as I am a clumsy #### and the take some serious abuse in the field. Wooden stocks are lovely to look at but thats about it for me. LB
