Re bluing a barrel? Any other options?

Is there a good reason why you can't powder coat a barrel? I've just done my wife's bike for 40 quid and it's hard wearing and waterproof, ideal really.

 

It's baked on in an oven I don't know if it will be too hot to insure the heat treating of the metals will hold.

Hi is there any other options? Insted of bluing a barrel? I spoke to my local Gun dealer and he said you can never get a good finish on bluing a barrel? And that there is no place that will do it? Any ideas??? Steve

 

Unless that was referring to a DIY job, not a professional hot blue job, I'd been looking for a better gun dealer to deal with!

true ,change dealer being old fartish we did hot blueing back in the 70s at skool.we had a blacksmiths forge etc n blah worked a treat on pokers .paint strippers screwdrivers etc,i did my kestral sbs with cold blue off fleabay ,used the deblue ,n reblue it was the same peeps as trueoil, came up sweet after 3 coats .but if you dont wont to risk it every1 reccomends rich h as the man for the job .
