blackbird
Hi what are your thoughts on a 410 hush power for laming rabbits I have been asked to control rabbits on a local farm but the land is not safe to use my .22LR or my .17HMR. Catweazle
OK if you can get close enough. Not as quiet as a moderated 22LR.
sitsinhedges
I use a single 20gauge version and find it works well as long as you get reasonably close. The good thing about these is that you can shoot the bunnies on the run if they don't stay put.
HDAV
http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/Gunroom/hushpower/Ed_Cooke_review.htm works well from a quad.....
ajm1979
Before I had land cleared for fac I used a Baikal moderated 410 on the golf course and had good results although a bit more noise found the 3inch shells had a bit more stopping power

laurielexus
Personally I'd use moderated 12g with subsonic cartridges you will be surprised how quiet they are with the right cartridge , the 410 subsonics are just not hard enough hitting, or apply for your open ticket there must be some angles that are safe or hi seat or tree hide near the warrens
Underdog
I use to use a double 410 for rabbit on rough windy nights, when they are not to educated etc. I aimed for their front end. Don't use shot larger 7s IMO. Pattern wins everytime! U.
washerboy
non fac airgun, safe and easy if you can stalk within 40 yrds
bedwards1966
A .410 is a good choice if it's not safe for a .22/17. Very effective on rabbits. I'd suggest no. 5 shot. Edited August 25, 2012 by bedwards1966
sitsinhedges
A .410 is a good choice if it's not safe for a .22/17. Very effective on rabbits. I'd suggest no. 5 shot. So would I, I've seen rabbits run from smaller shot only to be found dead against the hedge whereas 5s seems to stop them dead in their tracks. I load 24grams of subsonic 5s in my moderated 20gauge for lamping and find it very effective at sensible ranges.
