houlsby
So, I took the misses to park lodge today.. And she enjoyed it. (think it may have been because I can't hit a barn door with a shotgun lol) But my 12g is far too heavy for her.. And with the amount of times she rattled the front bar with the gun I'd rarther get her own.. So guys, what do you recommend?
topshunt
will be interseting to see what people suggest as im in same position. myself was thinking on the lines of a 28g, quite a lot on here seem to rate them, or a 12g semi auto, lighter gun less recoil plus i wont need to buy two different cartridges. houlsby
I'm not buying her a 410, I can't hit bloody clays with a 410 I don't expect her to!
did i miss
20g cost less to run than 28g
aga man
a nice 20 bore o/u i wouldn't spend too much though as she will probably want a 12 when she gets used to it.
BerettaSV10
One 12 bore that comes to mind is the beretta ultra light, but comes with a big provisal in that she would need to use light loads that have low recoil like the hull comp x 21g's otherwise she will probally feel the recoil on heavier loads and could be put off shooting. Being a game gun it may have a auto safety, its been a while since I used one, so can't remember if auto safety, which she would have to get used to. Not a brillient answer but may be worth looking into.
theosmith
I'm not buying her a 410, I can't hit bloody clays with a 410 I don't expect her to! mmn not hard pal just not as hard hitting further out and alot more pleasent for a lady to shoot, baring that id say just say something that fits her and light some old guns are very skinny elegant. and just use 21g carts semi auto will also remove lots of requoil

hillmouse
More info needed here. Is she a size 6 and a 5 stoner or a more average build? I often teach ladies with a 20, sometimes a 28, but lots can cope with a 12 of sensible proportions. Better a little bit more weight in the gun and tired arms than a light gun and recoil problems putting her off (unless you actually want a spare gun and shooting time alone, Ahem) Downsides of 20's is that nice balanced ones made as a genuine 20 are not cheap and neither is their diet. same goes for 28's but more so. Beware of unbalanced numb ones with smaller gauge barrels on a standard action. Better a well balanced 12 and a 21 or 24 gram load.
biketestace
My lass uses a 15yr old 12g silver pigeon, older models are better built and have female friendly stock dimentions !!!! She uses 21gram shells, prefering exspress hv as they dont kick at all,she has tried semi autos but keeps going back to the beratta mate, hope this helps... Its the size of mine that's put her off..
Rupert
My missus and main shooting partner is tall and slight also very skinny on the upper body and currently shoots a 30in 682 gold e and a 32in k80 trap gun. In the begining she shot 21g shell exclusively and would walk away when she got fatigued.Lots of mounting in the house between shoots.Over 6mths she worked up to 100 sporting and a couple of lines of DTL.Now she can shoot all day,350 is the most one day at doveridge, and has settled on a 24g shell with the chedite's being the smoothest of the budget stuff.Recoil pad too from day one. Start slow and build up.
