hedd-wyn
Hi folks I've ordered a forend and swivel kit for my Remington 870 Express. Was wondering how one would get about attaching the swivel to the laminate stock. I wouldn't mind having a crack at this myself but would like your thoughts on how to do this properly, how far back should it be installed ect. Many thanks Hedd
steve_b_wales
On my rifle, I just drilled a hole into the stock, slightly smaller that the screw. Then I put some Araladite onto the screw threads and fitted it on the stock. It has'nt moved or loosened in 4 years.
kent
A few usefull tips secure the stock, action removed upside down and sucure in a gun vice or similar Start the drill hole well up from the toe of the stock to prevent future splits. start the drill hole with a bradall use a little bit of soap to lubricate the stud thread cutting in
Scully
Am I right in assuming the 'kit' comes with a fore-end cap with swivel attached?

aga man
see how much you rfd wants for the job hedd. it might be easier. failing that others here have give good advice, just take your time marking it out before you drill

walshie
On my 1100, I put the stud for the swivel 3" up from the butt. The instructions that came with it said to make a 5.5mm hole about 3/4 of the depth required and the rest with a 4mm bit. That was an Uncle Mike's swivel set.
