Pirate of Love
Skeet Shooting Hi guys. I have been shooting DTL for nearly two years now, and I am constantly hitting mid 90’s now. I still love shooting this discipline, but fancy a go at somthing else and skeet looks like the next step. A couple of questions here:- Is skeet the next step to take? I have a Beretta 682 Trap gun (fixed chokes), which I use for DTL, I also have a Browning Maxus semi (multi choke) which I use over the farm for pigeon shooting. I know the trap gun with this fixed chokes is not the best to use for skeet? Do people use semis for skeet? If so would I also use the cylinder choke, or would it be best to invest in a sporter? Finally, (if you have got this far!) can anyone recommend a friendly skeet club in Essex to point me in the right directions and give me a hand / coaching? Has anyone shot at the Southend Gun club. I think they shoot skeet. I am having trouble contacting them. I am in the Wickford Billericay area; the local clubs tend to be sporting clubs. Thanks guys and happy shooting. OddJob
I think Dartford is the place to go. If you have a gun you are comfortable with mounting and moving I'd stick with it to begin with. Otherwise you are changing too many variables at once. PhilR
Have a look on the CPSA website. You can find under each county all the affiliated clubs and IIRC what disciplines they shoot. I think Parkford is a skeet ground not sure whereabouts in Essex it is though.
phil moss
Parkford is based near to Clacton, North Essex area. A close personal friend of mine (former Essex & British open skeet winner, Essex & England team member) used to practise skeet at Dartford.........think that says enough !!! Fatcatsplat
Dartford CSG in Joyce Green Lane - They are skeet and trap mad down there. There will usually be someone to shoot a round with as well.
