If you want quiet, use eley fourlongs and forget the others. They're much quieter than eleys own subsonic fourten loads. Don't know why, but they are? I've never found a quieter fourten cart anyway.

hi rimfireboy have you tried the hull 21/2" 11g 6s or lyavale 21/2" 14g 7s as they are quiet

if you found them quieter than them then i shall go and buy some to try

Subsonics are a waste of time I use to use lyalvale 21/2 or 3" or eley fourlongs. Once you've got a good 150-200 through it you'll start to notice a difference, although you'll never appreciate it fully as the shooter. Imo your better getting a mate to shoot whilst you stand 30-40yrds away and judge which cartridges are quietest.

Then when you've decided on quietest find which kill/pattern best out of them and stock up, I preferred lyalvales as they have more shot in than eley or gamebore and had plastic shot cups so pattern better I used 3" on rabbits and 21/2 on roosting pigeons. But if using plastic wads make sure you have a quick check after each shot to make sure the wads not got caught up causing a blockage.
