30-6
Does anyone use a led type torch to do a quick scan of the field when lamping ? I use a clulite master lite supreme mounted on the scope to actually shoot, and usually scan with a 7 amp battery and a dimmed tracer - max. But i need to cut weight down to minimal, so was thinking of trying a "reasonably" priced led torch which will be lighter to carry. What is the olight crimson (red led) like, any one with any experience ? I know nv or the lighter non lead / acid batteries are the way to go, but at the moment price is a big factor on decision. Cheers in advance.

Gregthegreat
Do you want to just pick out eyes with it or be able to ID the body?
30-6
Want to do both really, but i suppose once i see the eyes and get the scope on it that would do it. I was thinking that the olight crimson led would prove less spooky to them when just looking for them.
Gregthegreat
I use a 120 lumen torch to pick out eyes and then go to the scope with higher power torch or night vision to ID and then shoot if applicable. I find it doesn't spook them anywhere near as much as a high power lamp. I bought the torch from B&Q for around £20. It will show up the eyes out to over 250 yards.
