SNAKEBITE
I have a leather hat, Australian style with brim etc and I was wondering what is the best stuff to use on it to keep it nourished and waterproof. It is worn all year round and after a couple of years it could do with a little T.L.C. before it starts to get shabby. Any ideas? Cheers. new to the flock
Bees Wax. Once you have rubbed it on, warm it up with a hair dryer and it will flow right into the leather. NTTF

Axe
Saddle wax, is an all in one leather treatment. Its applied with a damp cloth and then let to dry. Buff it off to leave the leather clean, nourished and looking as new.
Graham M
I have one of those hats and use a specially formulated treatment for it. I have just spent the last half hour looking for the damned stuff but can’t find it. It comes in a small plastic bottle with an applicator sponge on the nozzle, and you just squeeze it onto the leather and work it in (looks like milk). You then polish it with a nice dry cloth and it makes the hat totally waterproof as well as keeping it in tip-top condition. If I can find the stuff I will post the name of it. G.M. SNAKEBITE
You know I saw some of that stuff in Millets at the weekend when I was buying waterproofing for my winter jackets! It said leather shoe care but I shouldn't think there is much difference! I have a friend with horses so I'll tap him up for some saddle soap and start with that. MC
Do I look like a hippy? Hmmmm Tough one that Aqueous wax from NikWax is what you need. You basically wet the leather, apply it with a sponge and leave to dry. JOB DONE!

Quist
Go out and buy a dozen bottles of Red Aussie wine. Uncork the first six and pour into the hat. Take a deep drink from the hat, then pick up the corks, drill holes in them with the little thingy on your pocket knife. Take another deep dring and then put some string through the holes in the corks and attach to the hat brim. Open the next six bottles and top up thje hat. Take another deep drink and then pick up the empty bottles which you knocked over and line them up straight. Take another drink and pick up the remaing six or sevel corks and try to find your pocket knife again. Take another derink and using the knife, try to drill a hole in the bottles. Take another deep dring and then try to put the empty corks back into the bottles and bandage your finger Float the corks that you can't put in in the wine in the hat and see if you can dring enough to ground them in the crown. Put the hat on your head and lick any remaining wine off your nose. The corks will help to keep the flies off your face No try to pick up and line up the bottles that you just knocked over If you feel sick, use the hat since it is now fully proofed.
