Amazed
Have a mate interested in one. Any details on yours amazed?! It's a near mint 6-24/44 sf hawk varmint. Pm me if interested and will sort a price and some pics Edited December 7, 2012 by Amazed
Dekers
I run old and new Varmints and Sidewinders, in both cases the newer versions are better but in fairness they are all perfectly acceptable! The new Sidewinder is 6-24x56 with a 30mm tube and is actually quite good for £300 (ish) and still very usable at 24x mag!
pat g
I have a Japanese manufactured Hawke Frontier on my 22lr and it does the job. Optics are not bad at all tbh. Obviously not up there with S&B, Zeiss, Swarvo and the likes but well usable all the same. If you're on a budget Hawke do offer a good range of scopes and it does come down to what you can afford. Even used some of the top end scopes will be out of reach for some people, especially in the current economic climate. My shooting buddy has a Hawke Panorama on his 22lr and its not bad at all. Clear, crisp and seems to be reasonably well made. The other option of course is keeping an eye out for a used Meopta, and depending on which model it is a one in good condition could probably be had for a similar price as one of the top end Hawkes. steve_b_wales
The Hawke Endurance 30 series are excellent value for money, and carry a 10 year warranty. I'm using two at the moment, and I'm pleased with them both.

ATB, Pat That is the exact reason mine is up for sale I am putting 7x50 meopta on the 22 hornet. Seems pointless having all that zoom on a gun that I rarely shoot more than 200 yards and mainly offhand. All the best Karl.
kent
without starting another tiff, have a look through some others in your budjet first. I have never owned one and frankly wouldn't but my mate is mad keen on them IMO the lenses are poor on all his. I know there is bound to be a big difference between these and the top makes but i also have two old WTC and they are far clearer with better light transmision
bullet boy
As the gent said above. Im not knocking them but i prefer Simmons WTC and Bushnell scopes first. ATB.

Yes agreed, those scopes mentioned are a good alternative to Hawke. Just out of interest are the WTC ranges still available. bicykillgaz
I've owned hawke, Simmons and a few others in that bracket there all decent enough and perfectly usable but I personally think Edgar brothers optimate are the best value for money. jonesbach
I'm on the WTC bandwagon. Don't have the budget for any if the 'top end' scopes. Started with a WTC on my air gun, then on my .22 and now mounted one on the .223. Can't go wrong really. Mate is in two minds what to get for his .22 and asked what I thought of the hawke, hence the op. thanks for your opinions guys, will be passing them on. jay222
For the money I'd take a look at falcon menace scopes I've got two of these and they are better than the hawkes I've owned

ATB, Pat Posted 02 November 2012 - 08:57 AM Hi Everyone A set of circumstances has come togetther that I may be able to help a few people. I can do a deal on the Simmons WTC 3.5-10x50 GENUINE ORIGINAL, made in Phillipines, BRAND NEW, delivered to your very door for £155. (UK MAINLAND) ONLY problem is I would need 10 units to do the deal, anyone interested? These are Genuine product a classic and much loved scope, nothing comes close to it at this price, these are NOT the cheap Chinese ones, just ask anyone about the Simmons WTC 3.5-10x50!! Fair clarity but the one i owned for only 12-18mnths lost its ability to hold any zero, litrally it was assumed something was seriously wrong with the gun. Never before have i seen this the bits must have been floating around inside on thier own accord
kent
Posted 02 November 2012 - 08:57 AM Hi Everyone I have one of these exact scopes, its on my daughters gun a good buy for anyone on a budjet. Suitable on a centrefire, rimfire or airgun. I also have the little 1.5-5 x20mm on my lazerglide HW80 and its been there for about 13yrs, this gun has been lent out to a few keepers who have tried to desroy it (one sucseeded by dropping the gun in the river ribble) the scope was fine but the piston needed re-buttoning on the gun. I dont know how many Ferals, rats and rabbits this rig has accounted for but it would be a heck of a big pile. I often check the zero but i cannot remember re-adjusting it more than an odd click (prob due more to different pressure and temp etc than the scope) A set of circumstances has come togetther that I may be able to help a few people.
