after another 5mile walk to night with all the kit i thought sod it iam going to use my carp fishing barrow to carry it all plus then if no cover about, but the net around the barrow a couple hazel sticks for a bit of height for the net job done.i must add all my walking is on hard ground but the bag is killing my neck and back.barb wire fences are about a mile or two apart so no loading and unloading.

I would be tempted to reduce my kit rather than use a barrow. 5 miles is a long way to push a wheel barrow !!!! There is always a temptation to bring everything including the kitchen sink with you when wildfowling , but just rationlise what you realy need. I see you have a net hide , perhaps a realtree hide would be better ( do you realy need a hide ? good camo clothes might be just as good , its very rare that I take a hide when fowling ) , use light decoys with hollow keels ect. I go wildfowling to enjoy my self rather than have a long trudge weighed down with tons of gear and then an even longer trudge back.

Tonight I had a 1\2 mile walk down a very muddy track to a flooded fresh marsh , I took 4 decoys , light seat , gun and shells. I just sat in a clump of low rushes , but the duck took no notice of me in good camo clothes and walked off with 2 wigeon and 2 mallard. A great flight for minimum effort.

If your shooting in the morning/evening get some teal decoys. There smaller and lighter so that either reduces weight or means you can carry more if you like. You will still attract all species of duck as they decoy to the silhouette (my mate has some mallard decoys that are twice the size and look like they've been painted by a paintball gun but they still work.) As for a hide I've never used one on the marsh, unless your tide flighting and its really open i wouldn't bother, Just stay low, still and have a decent camouflage jacket on.

If I had to push a barrow 5 miles for a few duck Ady, I`d stick to the Carping mate!!!!!! :smartass:

Only kidding!!!. I`d definately lighten the load mate.....fewer deeks, and take the bare essentials.

As already stated, I like to enjoy my wildfowling, and lugging a load of gear isn`t my idea of enjoyment.

i dint think 10 decoys lines flask and a few other bits was so heavy no hide just laying on the ground but as it is easy walking under foot i thought of using the barrow then could take me hide not got a lot of cover at the mo cause of the flood water but the birds all ways seem to come into more deeks...its all ways ok going just the walk home lol

What you need is a trolley!

Well that's what I call mine. Two large wheelbarrow wheels on a single axle. Small plastic wheelbarrow body bolted to it.

Long folding handle for stowage in the car. Weighs very little - Alloy handle etc.

Good in the mud. Superb on the flat. Will float if it has to.

Get the balance right and you can pull it anywhere with minimal effort.

Carries rucksack, geese 'coys, hide, hide-poles and gun. (Oh, and the geese and ducks on the way back)!

All terrain vehicle.

Deer extraction trolley is similar.

Mine was originally built for beach fishing by a mate. He gave it to me and I modified it.

It is the only thing that keeps this 73 year old fowling - I'm far past carrying all that gear around.

I'll post a picture tomorrow - It's dark outside now.
