i bought some dowling and bike spokes. drills a small hole in the top on each 12" stick and then i glued in 1" of bike spoke. if you look under the shell you will see a mold mark, a circle drill a slightley bigger hole in the shell.

put the stick in ground and put the shell on the spike. the decoy move in the slightest wind and they spin like a feeding bird. I have a video here somewhere.

hope that helps.

I rarely bother using my spring sticks on my decoys anymore. I think that when using magnets or flappers, extra movement in the pattern becomes redundant. I used mostly static decoys for the whole of last year pretty much, and noticed no difference in results.

Yep, totally agree, sometimes you can have to mush movement and it will spook the birds. in all truth i just chuck my half shells on the floor and where they fall will do, turn them over but i dont face into wind and i dont even space.

if im setting up for someone else to shoot then i will put a pattern for them to land but if its just me then i like challenging shots so not over worried about a landing zone.
