I arrived at the chosen field at 8:30 which was too late as it turned out because there were 400 pigeons on it already.

The hide position was chosen and I set up along a long belt of trees. The wind was gentle, right to left, so I put the rotary 30m to my right to encourage birds to fly past the hide to the pattern. Birds came from both directions and decoyed well and I thought that I was in for a bumper day but at 10:30 the lines just stopped and I hardly saw another bird in the air for some time.

I packed up with 33 in the bag.

Had the same yesterday started at 0730hrs to find the birds had already made their way to the fields. odd birds for the rest of the day until 1500hrs then all hell broke loose.

At one point I had approx 80 birds all try and pitch in at once!!!! then come 1600hrs all quiet again.

I always think it is important to get there for first light this time of year as normally the first 2-3 hours after is when you will get the vast majority of your shooting for the day.

At least you seem to be getting some decent enough bags for the time of year.
