Jackw04_123
Worst nightmare, always an imbarresing phone call. Especially at that time
al4x
hope they were substantial telegraph poles, not quite what I'd have used as they tend to be fairly easy to pull over

Cosd
Out of interest, what car were you in? I almost got stuck in my D2 a couple of weeks back, except I just pulled inside the field gate so not to leave the car on the road. I only just managed to get out as the ground was so sloppy, and I must admit I started thinking about whom I was going to call to pull me out
neil3728
What tyres do you have on your car, never had an issue getting stuck in mud no matter how deep it was. Although that is running some extreme mud pattern tyres on my D1.
shaun4860
I think once you're down to your axles your pretty much stuffed no matter what tyres you have

Looking at getting some All Terains, but want to get a bit more use out of these first as they still have loads of tread on them. No doubt tyres make all the difference in these situations! neil3728
That is true, when the diffs ground out the only real option is the winch. Or some quite dangerous manouvers with a hi-lift Edited January 7, 2013 by neil3728
archiebald
Nearly got stuck myself last night in my vit with aggresive mud tyres, its not tyre grip that was the problem its dropping into deep tractor tyre ruts and grounding out that seems to be the worst problem, then it doesnt matter what tyres you got on

houlsby
Lol you cheeky ***. Was past the diff Adam upto the sills! The telegraph poles were on the deck (for the health and safety crew) 6 tonne winch on the trooper with insa turbos P.s yes I did give up. It's far easier to phone your mate up with his 4x4 than start digging at 1am!! Edited January 8, 2013 by houlsby

al4x
Must have been quite some telegraph pole to have not just pulled it across the ground towards you, having clipped the straining wire on one with a set of rolls and nearly pulled it over the upright ones aren't that well in the ground. In case anyone else thinks of using one Edited January 9, 2013 by al4x

In case anyone else thinks of using one Note quite true al4x. They are 6 to 8 feet in the ground, sometimes with a baulk (6 foot railway sleeper) bolted across them bellow ground. I should know, I used to install them for YEB.
al4x
would you try winching from one? takes a lot to move a 4x4 up to its axles
Scragrat
Close to the base, yes, if stuck and no other option.

houlsby
@alex.. It doesn't take much to winch out when your driving too bud. Long as the rope is wound back on properly afterwards it's fine. Adam, my land over retfords cleared for rifle now as well so can bob over
