RichardH Posted October 13, 2006 Report Share Posted October 13, 2006 Small friendly shoot, part time keeper releasing perhaps 500 pheasant and 50 partridge with a good population of woodcock. Drives are a mix of woodland blocks (Forestry Commission Land) and cover crops on surrounding farmland, its not a big patch so not a huge amount of walking (older folks would find it no trouble) Bags are approx 40 birds, 8.30AM start, normally finished (and in the pub) by about 3pm. Hot lunch provided, wages I believe are £15/day for adults, we have a proper beaters day at the end of the season to say thanks, birds are shared out and theres some roost shooting available for those proved safe and trustworthy. Its definately not a commercial enterprise, very relaxed, extremely safety conscious and a great bunch of people certainly not a hard days work, a long way from the big shoots I used to beat for with hard taskmasters who would have been more at home beasting recruits in the army We are looking for experienced reliable beaters with dogs (or certainly the majority with dogs) First shoot 21 October Thanks Richard Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Words like that, spoken without any thought will get your big mouth in a lot of trouble one day! Personally people like you giving comments like that shouldn't get favors. At the end of the day, RichardH is asking for help and in return he would offer a beaters day and possibly a few roost shooting evenings and all you've done is give the bloke two fingers. With you being in North Hants you are in a great position for him and if you had of used your head you would of realized that you meet other people on the shoot who in turn could have offered you more shooting rights. Agh well, never mind. You win some, you loss some. Of course, if this was said as a matey joke as you know each other and i've missed something, I take it all back and will by you a drink next time I'm in North Hants Good luck with the search Richard, me being in Surrey can't help. RB..........my first time I went beating, some toff who has never got his hand's dirty in his life look's down upon me and say's "where's your tweed".............it aint got ** to do with him if I don't want to pay £300 for a glorified sack, and I was smartly dressed also............hence I got in my car with my dog and went home, so no I do not want to spend a day getting looked down upon. I will say it again to you RB in case you didn't get me the first time, and let it sink in this time.........I HAVE BETTER THING'S TO DO THAN BEAT BUSH'S FOR A BUNCH OF TOFFS. Richard, I do apologise if I was rude the first time, and understand your shoot may be totally different when you say "friendly", but it don't appeal to me. Helping Richard could have got you in a circle of other shooters that could have got you some land to shoot on. You've blown that now. Can't believe a 30 year old would come out with that, until i looked i guessed you were still in your teens using your dads guns, not someone the same age as myself Anyway, I've got better things to do than mother someone the logic on "think before opening your mouth" Through PW I've had many days shooting with other PW members. Members I'd never met till i knocked on the door with the shotgun in hand. That's because i don't talk **** (all the time anyway ) and they can see from most of my posts I've got mature gun mind that's not going to put them, passers by or there right to shoot their land in any dangerous position. RichardH Posted October 14, 2006 Author Report Share Posted October 14, 2006 Blimey guys not quite the response I was looking for Actually we dont have any toffs I'm afraid, the entire enterprise is run on less than £500 a shooter for 9 days shooting + the beaters shoot so no Kings, Queens, Lords in sight . I'm sorry if I've offended any of you but it really is a good day out, granted the pay probably doesnt cover the fuel but the beaters we do have really enjoy it, anyone who spoke in the manner you describe to one of our beaters would leave the field immediately. Clearly not all shoots are the same If anyone is seriously interested please give me a shout. Richard You have come closer to abusing all the pheasant shooters out there than he has come to abusing your family!
