hedge hunter 1984
Hi guys and girls. I have a 8 month old springer that i have done a bit of training with. As i have never trained a dog before i think the best thing for me and her is to be pointed in the right direction. Over the last 2 to 3 weeks she has become harder than normal to train so rather than carry on (and not sorting the things i should be) i`m thinking of going to get some tips, etc off a trainer Before it becomes to late. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any? Cheers Andy

dadrew
Yes I agree, but its like anything you have to weed out the chaff from the wheat. Lots of good advise there from some very knowledgable trainers, some I know personally and some I refuse to even ackowledge. I read the advise and make my own mind up. hedge hunter 1984
have you been watching dvd,s and reading gundog books. because if you have,nt you will find its not as hard as you think and its more satisfying when you do it your self my lad as just trained is first dog a springer and he as done a great job of it. and he as done it all through books and dvd,s. I have been reading the books but its the faults which I have done what need correcting and I need pointing in the right direction. With her being 8 months old I think it will be hard and I don't want to keep training her wrong. Well done to your son pal I have more respect to people who train dogs as I use to.haha
DaveyTed
You say the dog's become more difficult over the last few weeks. Could she be coming into season? Having said that, time with a good trainer is seldom wasted. Good luck.

hedge hunter 1984
what are the bad faults you are having problems with Her recall to voice or whistle has become really bad when we are out. At the weekend why we were out she took off and wouldn't come back to me no matter what i did. up to 2 weeks ago she would leave my side. i have seen a difference in her overall behavior as well i dont know how to describe it other than hyper!
