pigeon controller
Friday saw us travelling 107 miles in search of pigeon without firing a shot, we found two flocks worth having a go at but both farmers were loyal to their shooters and declined permission to us. Which if I'm honest I respect them for. So Saturday saw us heading in a different direction, we had received a phone call from a none shooting mate who had seen lots of birds on his travels on the motorway. So we headed that way in search of birds. We picked up on a flightline close to the motorway and followed it for about five miles which ended on a seed field which was still being seeded, we spoke to the contractor and he directed us to the farm but he did not know the farmers name other than Dave. So we drove to the farm to obtain permission. when the farmer came out we knew him from the past as we had shot on his land on another farm ten years ago. He said that he did not want us to shoot the seed but could we shoot his rape which he gave us directions to it . So we headed off when we drove onto the field about a hundred birds lifted off, we chose a hide position with the wind off our backs and started shooting. After about half an hour the cloud lifted and we realised our mistake as we were shooting into the sun which made it very difficult but it was nice and warm in the sun and the birds kept coming into the late afternoon. We picked up eighty eight so it was a great day and a new farm in the process.

turbo33
Cracking bag, and as always, well deserved :good: . We all moan there are no pigeons about and you drive 107 miles to find them and go door knocking, with at least one knockback. I've said it before, to all who want pigeon shooting, this is how much effort you have to put in. Stunning result again PC :good:
