Wildfowler
Due to work commitments along with various other things its been a while since i took my son for a shooting lesson, but i took him on Saturday morning and he did really well. After only a couple of shots he was back in the swing of things so we moved onto some crossers. He struggled a bit to start with but towards the end it all started to come together... Then we moved onto rabbits just for a bit of variety. I must say these were not easy as they were bouncing all over the place but again, he got there in the end. He really started to show a lot of maturity and restraint. If he knew he wasn't going to get it, he had the confidence not to pull the trigger, which for his age i thought was pretty good! Sorry for the background noise, his enthusiastic granddad was there to help look after my younger son... http://youtu.be/TdctUgDdogw

Mr Potter
Hes got it, looks the part too well done. I'm with Brian on this, the lad looked like he'd been shooting for years. One to look out for in a few years time. Mr Potter
Wildfowler
Thanks for the comments. I'll pass them on, hopefully it will keep his enthusiasm up! Not that he needs any encouragement to go shooting! It's good that he's quite a confident lad and likes adult company so he picks things up and learns quickly! neil3728
Looks good, wish i could get my daughter interested in shooting. May I ask how old he is and what gun he is using, thinking about my 8 year old.
Wildfowler
Looks good, wish i could get my daughter interested in shooting. May I ask how old he is and what gun he is using, thinking about my 8 year old. He's 8... He uses a webly bolt action 410, 2 1/2" chamber. I did think about getting him a double barrel but glad I didn't as it would have been too heavy, With a shortened stock the gun he's got is perfect... neil3728
Thanks for the info, i'll propabilly wait till my daughter is a bit older not sure she could swing a shotgun properly just yet. Is the 410 that much lighter than a 12g sporting as she has troble even picking mine up.
Wildfowler
Yes, a LOT lighter! My son can't hold up my 12 and he certainly couldn't swing it. His arms do get tired after 15 or so shots, so we have a 5 min break and carry on. If your close your welcome to come along and let your daughter have a go with my sons 410... Edited to say: I just loaded the full site (as I'm on my phone) and saw you are in Yorkshire! Not too close! If you are down my way the offer still stands! Cawdor118
Great to see new blood coming in to shooting and seeing him enjoy it! But please tell me the wee man had ear plugs in!?!?!
Wildfowler
Yes, I wouldn't let him anywhere near a fired gun without! He only had plugs back then but he's got a decent pair of electronic defenders now so he can hear when he's being spoken to!
