huffhuff
Didn't take long for the disgruntled ex broomhills air rifle lot to set up camp. Fair play. As long as its nice and safe, good luck to them. Personally, too much paramilitary looking shizzle for me. I'm always warey of those type of places. Dunkield
Is it just air rifles? And yes the initial photos have a few black guns with presumably similarly attired owners, but that is fairly 'normal' for rifle ranges
Beardo
they show .223 rifles in the photos. be handy having a fullbore range nearby
Mungler
Is there space in the car parking area for commando rolls? I'm not strapping on a piece and getting my best black cargo pants out unless there is.

al4x
they show .223 rifles in the photos. be handy having a fullbore range nearby though to a max of 120 yards it might be deemed not particularly challenging

danfick
Anyone else notice it seems expensive for your range fee?
robbiep
Anyone else notice it seems expensive for your range fee? £65 for the day for Centrefire ! Bloody hell. Membership is £100 for smallbore, and to upgrade to C/F it costs an extra £60, so that's £160. Add in half a dozen range days, and it's going to be more than £500 a year, and that's before any ammunition. A bit ridiculous, I think. Dunkield
If I read the site correctly the range isn't even there it's at Minsterly right?
robbiep
If I read the site correctly the range isn't even there it's at Minsterly right? That's how I read it too. The C/F range is Minsterly. One hell of a long way to go to shoot on a range, especially for a club just outside the M25 !
Dunkield
Last time I shot Minsterley (a long time ago admittedly) it wasn't any near that expensive, in fact they let me use the range for nothing when I bought my rifle/rings/scope from them
robbiep
Just had a look : if you wanted to join the club based at Minsterley (Brookshill) then their membership fee is £225 a year (£245 in year one). As a member, the range fee would be £9 per day. Alternatively, as a visitor, you would pay £30 per day. So this new 'club' is charging more than double the day range fee. I think their fee includes use of the club guns. http://springviewranges.co.uk/fullbore-shooting-club/ You still pay per round of ammo on top of the range fee, but they do have a nice collection of guns to play with. 2 x 7.92 x 57 Rifles, Mauser K98 1 x 223/5.56 AK47 Straight Pull 1 x .308/7.62 Remington VTR 2 x 7.62 x 54 R Mosin Nagant 1 x .303 British SMLE 1 x .357 Winchester Underlever Rifle 1 x .44 Magnum Rossi Underlever Rifle 1 x .357 Pistol (Nitro)
The Mighty Prawn
It does seem very expensive, my club is I think 124 for the year with five ranges and use of club guns etc Also having to go to different venues for each discipline isn't fun Still more clubs might mean more shooters and thats a good thing
robbiep
I'm a member at Valley Arms - so if I wanted to, I could go down the S.7 route (though that doesn't hold any appeal, did that lot years ago) Membership : £100 a year. Can't remember if the first year had a joining fee too. Indoor range (air rifle, 22LR, pistol, £3 range fee, open when the shop is open), and a 100 metre C/F range about 15 minutes drive away (£10 range fee on range days, which are monthly) EDIT : price also includes club gun use. Ammunition prices are reasonable. Edited May 26, 2015 by robbiep
