hw 77 or hw 97

No one can really answer that, I'm afraid! It's entirely about personal choice. The 97 is a little bit shorter, but the weights are comparable and they both generate the same power. So it'll come down to personal preference and how they feel at the shoulder. Try them both out and see what you prefer. Neither is going to be more or less accurate than the other!

I agree with Chris, both are excellent guns and don't forget the HW77 has its legendary status-It was a very popular rifle when the FT circuit started out.

Like Chris has said go and see them for yourself before deciding which one to get but whichever one you purchase you are getting a top quality spring gun that if you look after it will last your lifetime!

Neither .... buy an Air Arms TX200.

Its better out of the box, no tuning kits required.

Its finished better - the bog standard beech stock is beautiful.

And Its made in Britain.

But as always it down to personal preference!

The TX versus HW argument will rubble on for ever.

As stated its down to what suits youi own both guns the hw77 in .22 cal and a hw97kt in .177 cal,

the hw97kt has been tuned by will at Woodfield GCP and is very accurate , the hw77 is about to get a v-mach kit fitted,

both guns are top springers they are heavy so if you are not well built ,then consider the hw95 break barrel in .22cal

this is lighter to carry , but what ever you decide it must suit you in size, weight and handling, good luck in your choice

and let us know what you decide on pls.

You can scope up either of them...

Sorry too short an answer there from me :) .

Fleshing it out more the 97 is built for scopes the stock suits them. they have no open sights as the end is a sort of silencer.

The 77 has open sights and I have found the stock is perfectly suited for them but sits a bit low if you want to mount a large scope requiring high mounts.

Actions are identical though and the stocks can be swapped between the two.

Have to agree on the TX200 comments though the TX is great out of the box, I had to put a Vmach kit in my 97K to get it shooting as smoothly as my old TX
