shootingmike
I'm looking at sx3's (black shadow) and outlander synthetics. My main shooting is wildfowling, pigeon shooting and ocassional rough shooting. That said, I'm not really bothered about 3.5 inch steel as I have had pretty good success with 3". I've read loads on both guns on here and have handled an outlander, which I was pleasantly surprised with. I expected it to feel much cheaper but it came to the shoulder really well and felt nice. However, reading about things like back bored barrels and considering basics such as a chequered rib, I'm starting to think the sx3 is better value for money. The Outlander only comes with 1 choke, the sx3 with 3. The sx3 can be had for between £750 and £800' the outlander a little more at about £820. I'd love to hear your thoughts, opinions etc. Edited July 11, 2013 by shootingmike
gazbev
Mike, it's the same old thing it's whether it fits, they feel very different to me. I like Berettas, never had a problem with them but the sx3 fits me better = better shooting. If they both fitted me I would have the Beretta, even if its for the ten year warranty
shootingmike
Thanks for that, I know you've given me sound advice before.... Before making the decision I want to find a shop that has both so i can handle them both. I know fit is the most important thing, I just can't help thinking the a300 is pushing it a bit for the price, given the older technology/parts even though it came up perfectly to my shoulder/sight. Then again, even if the sx3 is cheaper, more advanced, better value etc. its no good if it doesn't fit me at all.... Need to try them both I think. mickmep
fit shouldnt be as much as an issue with a semi auto, pretty much all come with a shim kit to adjust them. i cant compare the two as i've not had a 300, but i like the sx3. the sx3 appears good value for money, but i can only compare to the A303 and A391 beretta's that i've had, and i suspect some of the reason for the price difference is that the sx3 doesnt have the complexity of components and metal under the skin. pretty sure the 300 beretta is inertia driven as well, sx3 gas driven, so the 300 may be a bit more kicky, if you notice it. ideally you need to fire a few round through both to compare. chesterse
A300 is a great gun, my friend has one and it never jams. Extra Mobil chokes are cheap enough,c.£15 second hand.
BrowningDJC
Ive handled them both, and in all honestly for a couple of hundred extra the maxus felt so much better.

Norfolk Ern
Got an A300 absolutely brilliant. Most in my area are going for £750 to £800 new. You won't be disappointed.
