I often use just 12-20 shell or full body decoys and a glider/floater.

Ther are ao many gadgets on the market these day..all 'must haves' that I manage good bags without

A bit of scrum net and a few hide poles (equine electric fence stakes) also come in handy

All the decoys and gadgets in the world won't give you a chance of a good bag if your in the qrong place.

My advice is...learn how to do proper recon, learn about flightlines and habits (if youhavent already)

Good advice guys I've been mainly watching YouTube vids , and reading the odd article in shooting sports mag, I'd love to go out and try it with someone local but it's finding someone , I've been asking around down the clay club but know ones into pigeons

I'll just have to keep an eye out on here .

I take quite a few different people out with me but few month back I took a lad out and he started shooting at swallows and seagulls he was told to leave shortly after

It's a shame when one could ruin it for all , it only takes one **** hole and a gun to give everyone in the gun community a bad name,

Hi Dave,im probably going to get slated for saying this but i feel it might benefit?

im sure you've thought about this already but if not, it might be worth taking some time to think about exactly what you're considering doing i.e killing an animal.

they dont all die when shot (i wish they did) and you will need to come to terms with having to get proficient at killing them by hand.

the reason i say this is not to be patronising or to put you off its just that i can remember the first time i went, and the chap i went with used the 'Batley' method which involves breaking the pigeons back with your thumb, ill be honest, i hated it! i also remember the first pigeon i had to kill by myself, again, not nice. it is something you get used to but for someone who is not that way inclined i'm sure it wouldnt be a good idea.

Hope you enjoy the sport and always have respect for your quarry.

Its a good point, but i am sure that going out with a long term shooter like Tightchoke he will be shown a good method.

HI guys just a responce to the last two post above ^^^^^

Let me tell you a little about myself , Im an electrical engineer, a glorified maintenace engineer responding to machine breakdowns and ppm and genraly keeping a manufacturing facilaty running, ive been working in the food industry for the past 10 years.

ive worked in abattoirs ( and ive seen some sights and smells ) ive worked in a chicken prossesing plant ( and have come to blows with a guy misstreating animals, if you saw how they are procesed you would think twice about eating suppermarket chicken, )

yes all these animals are suposedly killed humainly.

If i were an animal ( and i am in the bedroom Ask your wife ) i would rather roam free and forrage and have a sporting chance against a guy with a shotgun than spend my missrable life eating food witch is designed to get a chicken to slaughter weight in 16 weeks gaining weight so fast that it breaks and deforms your hips only to grabbed by some imergrant worker litraly throwing you in a small crate with 20 other half feathered chickens and end up at a processing plant to be electrified in a pool of water and have your head cut off at the same time and this is the nice version.

I have the upmost respect for all animals and have a great love of nature and the outdoors, i hope to kill my quarry cleanly but in some cercumstances i may not and i am prepaired to despatch my quary as cleanly as possible, i do intend to try and eat some of my quarry, i have allso sent an email to twycross zoo as they are local to me to see if they would be intrested in any of my left over quarry.

At the end of the day these animals are pests and the reason they are able to be shot in such numbers is that we are now growing more crops than ever. More food = more animals is the long and short of it

Im also going to be shown the ropes by a long time shooter, im not just going to rock up in a feild and start blatting anything that moves i have taken the time to seek some training in this art.

id like to end this with a few of my favorate quotes

and my alltime favorate and most relevant
