EastSussexLad
Checked one of my farms in the week to see a steady stream of birds feeding between 3 wheat fields that join onto one another. The game plan was to leave mine and set up for around half 8ish due to all three fields surrounded by houses and not wanting to upset anybody too early on a Saturday! (20/07/2013) After bagging one of the 3 fields and set up the hide, magnet, decoys and a bobber i had the first bird in the bag by 8:45. I was set up bang on one of the main flight lines through this field but nothing was taking an interest what so ever, a steady stream of birds for 2 hours all flying towards the field i had bagged. I had shot 6 birds by the time i thought **** this packed up and drover round to the bagged field to see what the crack was! Opened the gate expecting it to be blue with pigeons but not a single bird!, drove back up to the farm to check a few pea fields and not a single bird anywhere to be seen. I then drove back to the field i was originally set up in twiddling my fingers on what to do!, The time now was roughly half 11 and thinking what a complete waste of a morning. I lightened all the kit down and set back up around 50yards down from where i had first set up placed the magnet straight in front of me in a tram line around 35yards and a bobber to the left of me around 25yards. The place just turned on like a tap with pigeons left right and center! I had ran out of cartridges by 1:30 with 52 in the bag for exactly 75shots. Back to the motor to pick the rest of the slab up. Final count was 116 downed and 99 picked. (21/07/2013) I needed to pop back over to the farm to pick up all the poles and bags i left in the field from the day before, saw maybe 50odd pigeons feeding on the edge of one of the wheat fields again didn't really have much else to do so i thought id set up for a couple hours to pick a few more off - Didn't use the magnet this time just 4 bobbers using the magnet arms. Set up around half 3ish and had 32 in the bag before a pal joined me at 5:30 i left him shoot the last 2 hours we spent there. - Final count was 42 downed and 35 picked. Incredible weekend and a very chuffed farmer!

EastSussexLad
Excellent pal...Where did you get the cocker? We picked Benji up from the cocker rescue when he was 18months old and drove all the way up to Coventry for him. We were told the previous owner neglected him and he was left in a flat and was ever so skinny. Hes getting on a bit now at the age of about 8 - Still tears **** around like a puppy.
