Sako scope mounting (not optilock)

Any suggestions for a good adaptor or mounts for a sako please? It's a 75 action III (if it matters).

I'm not sure i can stomach the price of optilock's for what they are but can't find much else in the uk - there's some weaver adapters about that tap on with a hammer for roughly £50 which is o.k but theyre two piece and id prefer a single rail in a way.

Just hoped someone could point me in the direction of a good alternative really at a more reasonable price, that said, if the alternatives aren't up to scratch I'm ok with paying the extra rather than buying cheap then optilock to correct the mistake (which would be even more expensive).

I've got Optilok on my Sako 75 and Tikka T3. They are excellent quality, although very expensive. I made an enquiry on here recently about fitting different bases/rings on my .243, but ended up having the same rings, only in 1" instead of 30mm.

If it were me i would stick with optilock, they're dearer yes, but only 1 10th the price of your rifle they won't mark your scope, what's that worth ??? How many times do you see folk's asking when buying 2nd hand scopes if they have crimp marks on them ?

Don't compromise on the mounts.

Thanks guys, still struggling with £160 odd to mount a scope - Obviously it's important but does seem a bit overpriced :/

Anyone know where I can get some of these? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/139341/warne-30mm-permanent-attachable-ring-mounts-sako-75-silver-high

After the reading up I've done, these seem to be the most popular - some say better than optilok and looking at them I'd say they're well made, opinions would be very welcome of course  I can't see myself spending a fortune on a scope, I'll probably put my taipan on it to start with, so these will certainly do for now at least - If I can find them, or similar.

As I said in my previous post I've used them and they are fine. No better no worse than Optilocks.

I've got some QR ones on my Remington and they have stood up to some terrible bashing about.

I get my stuff from here (but they don't have 30mm silver) http://theopticzone.com/products-page/mounts/warne/tikka-ringmounts/page/1/

Thanks mate, they only list tikka which I think are different?

I have Optiloks on my Tikka and Warnes on my CZ.

As Mr T says they are both good rings, you shouldn't have problems with either.

Thankyou both, think that's settled it - I just need to find somewhere that has them (preferably uk) and double check the high mounts are right for a 56mm front lens. Ideally silver as it's a stainless rifle but, as scopes are usually black, I'm not sure it'll matter too much. :good:

seems you have to pay through the nose for silver rings?

I bought stainless Optilocks for my rifle there were a bit more than black but not much, but that was a long time ago....
