eccles
Got up this morning early back giving me stick. Thought i might as well go for a bash at the crows. Left home at 6ish arrived at farm about 6.25 thought i'd set up this side of the winter barley as i'd seen a good few going into it last time i was shooting this farm. Walked to the field through the cattle and set up hide and out with some decoys. Knackered i'll have to get another 4x4 or fix my shogun. Had a smoke crows calling about on the other fields a lot of rooks and carrions flew high down over the barley, nothing in range. Then i had 3 carrion that came in singles and a magpie all shot. stayed for a hour and a bit nothing moving my side so packed up and back to the car. Had a quick chat to my mate he said they had been about end of last week in good numbers, On leaving the farm i thought i might as well have a go on the barley stubble for a hour or two. Set up the hide again and out with some decoys. A few pigeon about not a lot though, back to the car and got a few pigeon shells. Had some nice shooting after shot these few in pic plus 5 which fell in trees behind and full of nettles so they stayed there and 1 dropped over hedge to my left. Missed a couple of pigeons but the crows where not that lucky. i hate missing them. Think i made it 52 mixed crow 1 magpie 8 pigeons. with the 1 from first hide,

eccles
Still better than sitting in the house Terry You right there Jeff would have been better if the contractors had not turned up to collect the big bales and then started to muck spread far end . With a bit of luck they might plough and seed it soon. always find thats the best time for crow atb Terry

turbo33
Good shoot there Terry If it isn't working, you have to up sticks and move How many times have we all thought about picking up moving and then talked ourselves out of it ( too lazy ), and convincing ourselves things will get better. They usually don't, So well done on the self discipline

The Ghost
Well done Terry good shooting, I was out on a dog walk a few days ago with the Wife when we passed a field with about 300 crows in, the field next to it had about 200...I said to the wife "that's about 500 crows we have seen" she said "no those are they same crows that were in the last field" I could not convince her that we had only walked 50 yards and none had flown over us? eccles
Thanks Lads shot hundreds on this farm this year and still hundreds left. This farm is where Steve b Wales Mark The Poacher and Andy Welsh Andy shot with me think we shot about 280 + mixed crows in 3 days. Its the closest to me that grow crops most of my permissions are sheep and cattle farms so nice to shoot on barley etc now and again, lot easier than decoying crows on grass fields. atb
Sean Richo
Eccles any tips for me the keeper on my shoot said I can have a go at the crows if I like but says that one shot and they will be off. I drive past the fields ever morning and plenty of crows scattered about think most of them are rooks. The only thing is I don't want to get up early to have one shot and they all get off. Most of my shooting is pigeons and all decoying equipment is for the pigeons magnets bouncers etc I have got four full bodied crow decoys that's all is it worth me setting up oh I got a Sam neyt caller too do you think it's best to use that or not sometimes I think it scares them as I have not mastered it yet.
