Pidge
If anyone has any spare pigeons I could buy/collect not too far from Holywell (Flintshire) I would be very grateful. Edited September 18, 2013 by Pidge
B725
can you not just use a dummy?
scotslad
I would 2nd above i'd also say pigeons are the last bird i'd ever use with a pup. If u want some feathered game just go for a drive round some local shoots, usually a bit of roadkill lying about, obviously try and find some fresh stuff To get my young dogs swimming i just let them free run chase after my old dogs in shallow water/puddles from quite a young age, they are usually haveing so much fun chasing older dogs don't even notice feet are wet and work my way up from there

Cranfield
If using dead birds as a training aid, its best to put the body of the bird in the leg off a pair of tights. This way the young dog won't get a mouthful of feathers straight away.

BRNDL
I think GAFFA tape is a better idea than tights as it indirectly presents the correct area to pick up. Additionally it leaves more of the bird on show for visual realization. Although i am no expert...but worked grand for me.
