Me and my mate witnessed something like this as kids when we were out with our air rifles, excactley the same scenario but on a fence, they were winding the cat up for bout 20 mins , the magpies knew excactley what they were doing, it was great to watch we were laughing our heads off at the cats frustration,

There's a long running, and boring, thread about cats on PW somewhere.

This needs to be on there.

boring to you grandalf maybe ? but I have to admit I thought the video just showed that magpie,s even to something that hunts them are fearless, cagey yes but fearless, well at least youv,e seen it now so you can pick your boring newspaper back up and continue reading it,

I personally found the video interesting to see just how confident there songbird killers can be, certainly better than reading the times in a rocking chair :lol:

Still think the cat thread is boring - don't like cats!

Birds (not just magpies) do this when the are trying to distract the cat from something else.

Every now and then you'll see a "Stupid bird" video as a Mother bird launches herself at a cat trying to pry her away from her fallen young, or nest, The cat often catches the bird and the young starve.

Sad, really.
