TopDown
Banging your head! 4 officers were there,so that's 4 that have made up the law,so he attempts to walk to his permission again and one of the 4 see him and decide he has broken their law,he is arrested and his fingerprints taken and dna swabbed, never to be removed from the database even when they admit it was a wrongful arrest. One police officer or 1000 police officers it makes no difference, the 1 police officer was making it up as he went along, again banging my head against the wall,if you cannot see the ramifications of this then more fool you. OK. It's clear that you don't know what happens when an arrest is made. No reason why you should. Don't make it up though. If you brought a lad in for an offence of "walking to go shooting" the custody Sgt might just explode. It would not get as far as your being asked the reasons for detention let alone documentation. I'm gonna leave you to it - well reasoned discussion doesn't appear to be on your agenda.
welsh1
I so far have been arrested and put in custody 8 times, the longest spell was 13 hours and have had the joy of a police sgt and pc lie through their teeth forcing me to have all my legally held weapons removed, they were returned as the retards forgot about the 3 hours of video fotage i had showing them to be liars. so i think i know the score on being arrested, i have also arrested over 200 people so again think i may know the score,i am all up for well reasoned discussion but suggest you look back through your posts as you cannot seem to take a stance and stick to it, you seem to slowly try to change your perspective as you realise your position in untenable. Not a pc by any chance? come on let us all know. How about a pc telling the custody sgt that they stopped the male and he became aggressive toward them and they removed his weapons for public safety, couldn't happen, think again, they have already told him a made up law they think should be in place, been there and only a head cam saved me from losing my weapons and a career, police making it up as they go along. GingerCat
Quite simple, call plod as to speak to the duty officer, tonight. Explain what's occurred and ask for the immediate return of the gun, also state you won't complain as its clearly a learning issue and your sure a speedy solution is forth coming, if no joy complain big time, to the ipcc and basc. Also your son, on the facts as described had done nothing wrong, as far as I am aware it does not need to be covered either. Just unloaded. The duty officer will have keys to the armoury and will be able to return the gun tonight. Edited October 5, 2013 by GingerCat

GingerCat
Good point I have re read it. He had done nothing wrong ignore the ill advice of the police. If it occurs again they need retraining. If I know the law and to be fair the only shotguns I encounter outside of my home or clay range are sawn off, then they should know, afterall I work for the same employer

HDAV
One question, he was stopped and until they did a check they confiscated the gun but returned it and he was told he could not walk to his permission, did they then take him home in the police car? or did they let him walk home with his shotgun in its slip? GingerCat
You try typing on this phone after a roast and bottle of red, besides I don't need a degree in English to accompany my other degree or understand the law. Something I'm pretty good at. Your attitude is It seems representative of the current climate, if I don't know where everything is, be able to diagnose every medical complaint, fly a helicopter, know ever single one of the 18000 laws let alone the European ones and case law as well as have perfect English, then I'm ****. Well well done. I look forward to your next post.

Marki
It is very simple, illiterately makes it hard to read the letter of the law. Since you feel the need to announce you chosen profession you should represent yourself in a manner than is indicative of your ability to carry it out in a professional manner. GingerCat
No, I'm a dc. There Is a difference. Albeit small. I have to forget my use of the English language to satisfy some of the pw community as well as pass other tests/exams and take my work home with me. Its illiteracy by the way. Out of interest, as I am trying to help a fellow shooter, how are your comments helpful to the thread? Would you rather I sit here in silence ? Marki
My apologies, English is my second language, thanks for the correction. BTW I (in is) is not a capital as the second word, but you already know that. The rest of your comment makes no sense at all. Please explain? Its illiteracy by the way.So you are a police officer. It is funny how reluctant most of you are to admit your profession. And before you pull someone up on spelling I would suggest you check your posts and their composition, it makes for harder reading when you flit from one thing to another without getting to the point. Feel free to rip all my posts apart, I don't give a rats *****. And I don't have a degree. Edited October 5, 2013 by welsh1
GingerCat
Refer to my earlier post, I am on a phone, it auto corrects, I shall email the company immediately and express your concerns about its inability to deal with the English language. What part of the rest of my comment makes no sense, the part correcting your illiteracy or the part questioning your useful or not comments in relation to my comments on this thread whilst agreeing that the posters son has done no wrong? Sprackles
Where does the law say it has to be covered ? +1 Another one who has not read all of the posts. Originally the poster referred to his lad and I posted a section of the firearms act which related to young people having the right to carry a shotgun in public but it must be covered. The OP then amended his post to declare his son was 19 so that section of the act did not apply. Do put your glasses on old boy and don't assume like so many on here
GingerCat
Welsh, marki, I am not trying to rip peoples posts up, just help a guy whose son had grief. My Grammer may not be the best but I am trying to help. Clearly as plod I shouldn't bother as my fate is sealed on this site.

My Grammer may not be the best but I am trying to help. Clearly as plod I shouldn't bother as my fate is sealed on this site.As plod you are as welcome as the next man, you want a hated job step into my shoes for a while, what I do disagree with pc's on here is trying to have an argument thinking they know it all when it is obvious that some do defiantly not,and also the fact that some will not admit their profession. You have to admit though your posts are hardly to the point, and make hard reading, and their composition is poor, which in turn makes harder reading for everyone. GingerCat
Because everyone on here is an expert in grammer, pronunciation and spelling. Ok, fair enough. I shall try harder. However I do openly announce my profession when asked, I am not a pc, I do not know it all, no one does. I may not get to the point but to be fair I don't have to. This is pigeon watch and not get to the point forum. As for hated profession I guess it depends on who you talk to.
Marki
or the part questioning your useful or not comments in relation to my comments on this thread This for instance, just ***? I have the ultimate respect for the law but I would have very little time for someone that claimed to be a professional and used the English language in this way. BTW, what is a dc? Detective Constable?

You raised the point about profession in your post stating that your fate was sealed.implying that all pc's were dammed before they started, that is not the case and there are some excellent police officers on here that are great to chat to and have debate with. Splitting hairs PC//DC,you both have a warrant card and work for a police service. And you are correct this is pigeon watch(there's that Dc nose coming into play,)but giving ambiguous posts just stifles the debate as everyone has to try and figure out what you mean. I personally hope you stay and contribute to the forum over the years, as from what you have posted you are prepared to argue your point and for that I respect you, some of your colleagues should take note. It's not that long ago when I would walk from one perm to another down the lanes with the gun broken and over my arm saying hello to anyone I came across and a wave to the local bobby.
