Paul taylor
Hi all. Had my SGC for a few weeks now. ive had a few goes on clays and the odd pigeon when they have actually shown up before getting my own gun, did ok on clays and hit a couple of pigeons too. unfortunately since going out alone nothing has decoyed and whenever a shot has been on ive missed by miles barely even worrying the bird! so bit the bullet so to speak on Wednesday and visited the idleback range in Rotherham where Paul checked my gun fit (I had my head way too low and was looking down r/h side of barrel) so after the highly scientific application of some cardboard and tape the gun fitted better so we moved on to shooting on the simulator and he worked on my mounting and swing etc so Thursday was time to see if owt had changed. It was really windy so I set up sat in a hedge with wind directly behind hide nets in front 20ish half shell pigeons out fairly random pattern but facing into wind 2 crow full bodies and a magpie then found 2 jackdaws and a crow that must have been shot day before so cut some sticks and put them out too. Worked pretty good I had crows coming in well and the ferals came in no problem woodies however different story they where coming over the trees I was sat under like missiles looking and flying on, had one land early on I didn't see until it flew away then the one I shot just before packing up which came in right to left about two foot off floor really fast but I saw it early so stood up slow and tracked it all way in folding it nicely just as it reached my decoys also had three shots for three birds inc a double on the crow and a jackdaw so confidence is up im no longer watching the gun just the bird and im hitting a few. I shot 30 shots for 9 birds picked also had a high woody which went down way away so about 3/1 ratio certainly better than 20/0 which is what I did week before! hard work loads to learn but loving it

BRNDL
That is a great write up...its a good feeling when they start to come and your hitting them well, especially a left to right screaming woody that you manged to fold. Excellent shooting!
