leeds chimp
Had a week fishing on the Broads with my old man.....who gets a house boat and I tend to stay with him a few days... Main target was pike ...but happy to pick up any slabs and silvers... Started fishing Monday and was very hard to get the livebait due to the river running very clear and the marina was extremly weedy....able to get a couple of small roach and skimmers so good job I brought some herring, smelt and makkie... Started with a float set up about 6 foot and parked the boat up and then just drifted the lines down from under the boat to about 60 yards letting the current take it down (which actually changes direction depending on the tide) when got a take on a small roach and this is the one... Really want to say it was another river 20lb but was 19.9lb had quite a few jacks aswell during the day from one that the bait was a third of its body size....shows what they will go after Tuesday had a few jacks but with the hot weather and having to use mainly deadbait it was hard doing....a few jacks coming to smelt tho..really hard work after the silvers but found a nice friend to eat the bait Wednesday again just mainly jacks upto about 5-7lb but found a nice spot to get plenty of livebait so spent a hour or two stocking up ...Old man lost a right lump that spat the hooks out when it tail walked....would have been a low 20lb Thursday the weather really did turn with rain and wind ....back to the silver place we found ....must have had 20-30lb in a few hours but had to call it a day early due to the wind and rain and I had to get back home to toddler sit... Friday ...plenty of wind and rain but was able to tempt this lady out ..just over 16lb and a really good fight...taken on a dead skimmer just drifted down

Lord Geordie
I have 2 friends who are down there as I type! One is on his honeymoon They are both fishing from the broads cruisers they hired. They have only managed jacks up to now, but hopefull of a double figure before coming home. I love the broads as a place not just a venue! Unfortunately SWMBO can't stand the boats May rent a cottage next year

Plenty of cottages to rent down here right on the rivers..depends where you want to base yourself tho

Wiltsmark
Your right about the weather L.C. we rented a cottage at Wells-next-the sea, beautiful week until like you said,we hired a boat for the day on the Broads (Horning)weather really did start to change. Wednesday night was awful it was bad enough on the harbour front in a cottage, had to be scary in a boat on the broads!. Lovely county Norfolk, with friendly people. jayman
Cant wait to get my new(but in need of repair)boat out on the broads and get back into some fishing. used to love piking back in my 20's. Maybe you'll have to take us out Chimp and show me some of the Hotspots once the old girl is fitted out. Great Photo's! You can't get better than the Norfolk Broads, hopefully the wife will give us the boot and I can spend my days messin about on the river. Karpman Always have a week in October...once the boat traffic has slowed down as I dont really like to fish for pike in the summer months...just personal choice Cant wait to get my new(but in need of repair)boat out on the broads and get back into some fishing. used to love piking back in my 20's. I know of a few hotspots now between Wroxham and Horning ....not blanked yet in over 14 years dishing down here and always get something over 15lb....biggest being 24.3lb ...would do more on the broads but with work and not being able to get on the water often Some nice fish Matt .
