Red Letter night on the foxes

Well for me anyway!

Ive been trying to keep on top of the fox population on the little shoot I keeper the past few months since my birds arrived. I had a couple a few weeks ago but since then Ive had 3 blank nights out - plenty of foxes out, but all at distance and they run as soon as they see the lamp. For foxes that only get shot during the game season they are very lamp shy.

Anyway, last night was a bit different. Maybe it was the last week of a full moon, or the first dry eve for a few nights, but they played ball and I managed to get onto 5 foxes and shot 4 all in 90 mins of shooting, as at 10pm the mist rolled in and it was game over.

Ive been running in my new Sauer 101 in 243 and ive very impressed - super accurate. All foxes were shot where I aimed, just behind the front shoulder. I had a 22.250 Remmy before which was OK but this is in a different league - the Zeiss scope helps alot too.

I'd always found fox control a bit of a chore before, but really enjoyed last night! Loads of deer about too - all bodes well for Does in Nov. Fox number 4 missing as the iphone froze so no piccy.
